Movie is made by famous Slovak (not Czech) director Juraj Jakubisko in 1990, in the time of ex-Czechoslovakia (or maybe better Czecho-Slovakia), starring Darinka Rolincová aka Dara Rollins, subs will be difficult to found, it´s a musical, and not very known even in our country. The title can be translated as Almost pink story.

The story is basically that Darinka wants more than anything to be a singer but her parents forbid it. She, along with an uncle who encouraged her talent while she was growing up, tries everything to get her chance despite her parents' best efforts, with almost tragic consequences.

Darinka sings a lot in English. The tunes were catchy (I doubt she actually sang them, but what the hey) and I enjoyed the film. All the girls were cute and there was plenty of OT for those interested in that kind of thing, from when Darinka was 5 up to when she was no longer a kid.

Lack of subs isn't much barrier to enjoying Takmer ružový príbeh.

Darina Rollins has grown up to popular Slovak pop singer, with success not only in Slovakia. For this reason, I think, that all songs has been sung by her. No matter, that I do not like this story personally.

For me, the best were her songs she has sung as girl with Karel Gott.

The songs in this movie were pretty hokey, but I find a lot of European music sounds about 15 years behind the times compared with larger countries (this stuff sounds like teeny-bopper bubble-gum music of the mid-70's). I don't care, I still liked some of it - it's not 60's rock and it's not heavy metal, so it's not 100% bad. :)
