Synopsis: Chocó is a Colombian film directed by Jhonny Hendrix. A black peasant woman in the prime of her twenties, carries a family of two young children and Everlides, her husband, a musician who only knows how to play marimba, drink biche and play dominoes. In the morning she works looking for gold in the San Juan River and in the afternoon she washes clothes from other families to feed and educate her children. It is the birthday of little Candelaria, and for the first time Chocó promises her a cake, however, things get complicated when trying to fulfill this promise, triggering unexpected consequences for Chocó and all his family. The film helps to reflect on the problems of Afro-Colombian women and, in general, about life in one of Columbia's poorest regions.
