Nice candidate for re-encoding. ;) I bet it could fit on one CD without any loss in quality. Note: it is a 1987 movie; not HDTV or even DVD quality.

Will someone (hint to ghost) please re-encode and release. Thanks.

No problem, but first i have to get it complete.

BTW: Why you are talking of CD size (700 MB)? The today's standard are writable DVDs' So i usualy make bigger files to save quality.

That's fine, but what I'm getting at is that no matter how big the resulting file size, the quality can't be better than the original - if the source is low quality, you can't improve it by much, except for cleaning up noise etc.

Eg. if the original file is poor quality, say a VHSRip, not much point in making a 1GB+ file; but if it is good, clean DVDRip, even 2 CD size (1.45GB) is fine. I have seen excellent 700MB files, presumably encoded with XviD multipass.

Can you still get that program called DrDivX?

I understood that it was program for making movie files smaller, and I used it several times with success.

I think DrDivX also turned movie files into DivX files, although im not sure what the point in that was, as I just liked to make em smaller.

Hmm they look quite ok, but when you watch them in full screen on your monitor or on a flat 37" LCD TV, they look quite crappy. If the bitrate is under 1000 quality is pretty bad... Sorry people, but i am a perfectionist in theese things...

Couple of things I really liked about this film, apart from the obvious.

The theme tune (for some strange reason it reminded me of the Charlotte For Ever theme).

Alice Papierski has a wonderful sexy voice.

Anyway, I found the latest version of DrDiVX :)

LOL

Well, let me know what you think of mine, and if its not up to your standards, then please post yours :)

Personally I could see no loss of quality when I compared the original to the DivX version, but some purists might spot something that I wouldnt be able to.
