A more recent movie by and with Richard Bohringer and his younger daughter Lou Bohringer.
imdb bla-bla:

A sad but generally lighthearted family drama.You get to feel sympathy for the redheaded child,nicknamed as Poil de carotte.
But above all I saw to the end this cheap adaptation to TV of a French classic novel because of the charming beauty of Fanny Cottencon as Mme Lepic, the mother of poil de carotte. The sensuality emanating from her was captivating and irresistible.
You even get to see a nude scene of her.Who wouldn't like to have such a gorgeous and sexy mum?

Might be difficult. Since 1925, there were 6 movies with this title, and this is the TV-version; I doubt wether there was ever an international release. Only subs I found were in Spanish for the 1925 version.
So you could do some data-mining...

Well, till now no success, I just found a first quasi classical version of it from 1932, by Julien Duvivier, I guess in German version. Might be interesting for posting, when I´ll come back.
