The Girl with a Red Sky is the first film in Tashi Gyeltshen's RED trilogy. It shows the last few days of a young girl suffering from Aids, infected by her father. She visualises a man in black coming to get her to take her to a place beyond this world and visit with him the small park with the swing she always wanted to sit on. Walking back to the hospital she drops the flower she picked up and fades away, silently and peacefully.

Oh, I expect to be depressed by this. Thank you, petra.

IMDB has been known to be wrong, but it says this is from Bhutan, not Burma (now known as Myanmar.) And it was released in 2011, not 2019. (Although it may have been made in 2009, according to some sources!) Also, it looks like this should be in the Shorts thread. I don't have it yet, but apparently it is 35 minutes.

I know, a nitpicker has got to nitpick! ;)

My best guess is that it was certainly made by 2009. It "was commissioned by UNICEF and the Youth Development Fund Bhutan" but it may not have received a theatrical release until 2011. Or IMDB is just plain wrong, as it frequently is!

Fortunately, everyone seems to agree that director Tashi Gyeltshen is Bhutanese.

Got it now, thanks petra!

Screenshot is from the end of the film's credits. unicef says it is 2009, so IMDB can eat it!
