I am having real trouble playing this using either VLC 1.00, or MPC.
In VLC the picture just "breaks up" and freezes all over the shop.
In MPC it starts to play, then frrezes, then jumps one still scene at a time.
Anyone else having this problem ? Anyone know solution (different CODEC).
BTW - in VLC forum, solution for all ills is to upgrade to the version stated.
GSpot states this as format :-
XviD 1.1.2 Final - Codec(s) are Installed
Pic 720x544
Not sure what I can do to get this one to play properly as all seems OK ? Any experts comment ?
Thanks

Bad form to answer own post but found solution - revert to vlc 0.86, play at slow speed and you can see most of the film !! So far, every time upgraded from 0.86 version, have had problems.

IMHO stay with the older versions and use the partfile plugin

I think you have a severe security problem since VLC 1.00 isn't released yet. Latest version released by the VideoLAN organisation is 0.9.9 from April 2nd, 2009 - as you may see at
http://www.videolan.org
I hope you don't install strange program versions since VLC 0.8.6!
I have no problem at all seeing this movie - VLC 0.9.8a, 0.9.9 or MPC build 1.2.1005.0 - from DVD or HD.
May be a hardware problem? How old is your PC?

Hi Idler/all
The VLC version thing first - it is available in the "nightly builds" section (an FTP site basically). If you go onto their own forum, you will find they advocate themselves to upgrade to version 1.0.0 for almost every issue which is raised viz : this is fixed in version 1.0.0.
Regarding plaback choppiness - yes I believe this is a hardware constraint on the old PC I am using as I have to playback one "notch" slower on almost every video file in order to eliminate the choppy playback - and this of course ruins the audio track. I have a dual P500 running XP SP1a, with 512MB RAM (most the board will handle I am pretty sure) and NVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card with 128MB unshared.
I am now upgrading graphics driver and will advise of outcome.
Thanks again

WOW - for anyone who doubts the value of having updated drivers - I cannot believe the difference - no chppiness now at all !! I will wait for 1.0.x to be release version now before upgrading VLC again -if it ain't broke....
Thanks to all and happy Easter

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0428093/
My Comments: (Quote by Deadly - Lost Movies)
"BettkantenGeschichten" - Loosely translated into English means, "bed edge stories" or "bed time stories".
"Der liebe Gott im Schrank" - Loosely translated into English means, "The dear God in the cabinet".
It's a family TV series from West Germany (1983-1990). This is the episode "Der liebe Gott im Schrank" (1985). Starring a very cute and adorable
little actress, and very talented. ~Deadly
