Never thought to release this one although I've had the DVD for years until LMA jogged my memory. One of the good, successful (and funny) FilmFour productions of the era. Quotes of the movie.......obviously 'up yer bum' & listen out for 'any more fares!'..........priceless!

16-year-old Lynda Mansell (Emily Lloyd) lives in a small English seaside town in the early 1950s. She is feisty and precocious and always shocks other people with her vulgar and saucy tongue (her favorite insult is "Up yer bum"). Bored with conventional jobs (which she frequently loses) and her town's dull young men, Lynda has her first sexual experience with Dave (Jesse Birdsall) but after she has slept with one of her father's middle-aged friends (Tom Bell), her life changes. She becomes pregnant and her father, a somewhat rigid and conventional man, disowns her. Desperately she tries to seek an illegal abortion but in the end decides to became a mother.
Wish you were here is a sigh Lynda makes because of her dead mother, who understood her and protected her from her intolerant father. Beneath her cheeky exterior, Lynda is a vulnerable girl who seeks for love and a place in life, and she lives in a time where it was difficult for teenagers like her to do these in their own way.
This movie was based loosely on the memoirs of the British madam Cynthia Payne as a teenager. It was filmed in Worthing and Bognor Regis

:thumbsup

There were some good British movies around this time churned out on Channel 4. Although not FLM material who can forget 'Rita, Sue and Bob too'......
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091859/

Nearer the mark was 'Hope and Glory'......
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093209/
......a possible candidate for a release here (unless it's here already) with at least one nice OT scene where the young girl collects money & lines the local boys up to have a leer down her knickers! :drool

Should any one want these I'm sure I can dig them out...............

I'm sure we had Hope and Glory here, but maybe it got lost in the crash and no one re-released it. I vaguely remember posting screenshots of the scene you mentioned. :think

Infiniter must be biting his tongue, trying hard not to say something, in regards to the ages of these actresses lol

Hmm.. I wonder if you said that just so you could jump down his throat when he did say something. :think :icon_biggrin2

I kind of like Sammi Davis, though. Despite her advanced age - she was practically a grandmother (figuratively speaking) when Hope and Glory was filmed - she was quite believable as a bratty teenager. :clap Gotta love those dimples. :inlove
