This is the original 1991 BBC series with the 1993 follow up that features a completely different cast. Both are six-part series.
I sourced these as torrents, watched & thoroughly enjoyed them but the quality was dire..........Fortunately both are now available as a twin-pack DVD from Home Vision Entertainment. However, it amuses me a UK BBC children's TV series is only available as a Region 1 NTSC import! The file sizes on these are quite large........this reflects the 145 minute running time of both series. I'm releasing these with English subtitles.

i for one don't mind the large file size. better quality is just that i have the dvd for the 2004 version. i did not know it was a remake. thanks Loverboy

Thanks for all these links and for sparking more interest for Five Children and It. I admit, I have the book, and didn't recognize the original Slovak version as being based off of it.

So, there are a number of different version of this story. Let me see if I can lay this out correctly:

A 1991 and 1994 continuation, this thread. Apparently, these two movies are made up of the original series, each one 6 episodes a piece. I am curious if they had to edit out anything from the episodes when creating the movie.

Admittedly, the plot of the Slovak version was unclear from the FLM post. It was only by reading the (Russian) blizzardkid entry that the connection became clear!

Holy crap, pillowbaker! FANTASTIC discoveries! I hope those torrents are fully seeded. I have never heard of "therarbg" but I want that AMZN rip. I verified that sadly there is NOT a rip for the 1993 sequel series there. I would like something better than the YouTube videos, which is why I requested loverboy's DVDrips!

The OP has uloz links, but the user Jax created some sort of conversion:

I have converted this DVD, which is 50i source, into 50p using AVISynth and QTGMC script. This script completely eliminates the interlacing, preserves all the motion and makes it more watchable on computer screens. I might do this conversion on more TV series DVDs. Please let me know your opinion on this rip.

The quality appears to be a high quality DVDrip, though the quality of the original source may not be incredibly high. I'd be keen on having the original DVD9 that was shared in the TNT thread, but these episodes by Jax are certainly a step up from the VHS rips, the youtube streams, and the various other 480p sources I found.

I wonder if someone still have the DVD9 file from the thread.

Subtitles are included. They are greatly helpful.
