A Place Called Home (2004)

The story of Southern Belle, Tula (Ann-Margret), who is living her older years in huge, yet crumbling, country house. Wary of visitors, her routine is shaken by two con-artists, Hank Ford (Matthew Settle) and his daughter Cali (Shailene Woodley), who are eying up Tula as their next victim.

One possible reason this REQ has sat for so long, and why I almost didn't bother getting this DVD, was the following wrong cover picture Rich posted (now edited from his post).

"A Practical Guide to Finding God's Love"... doesn't sound very FLM-ish.

But... that's not this movie! This movie co-stars 12-year-old Shailene Woodley, known to some here for her starring roll a year later in "Felicity - An American Girl Adventure (2005)" https://www.first-loves.net/forums/v ... php?t=3774

Although she's in danger of losing her sight, Tula (Ann-Margret) isn't oblivious to what's going on around her, regardless of what others think. For one, she knows her relatives are after her home and her land, a fact that both saddens and angers her. To save herself and everything she's ever worked for, Tula enlists the help of a stranger with a dark past (Matthew Settle) and his daughter (Shailene Woodley). Is she doing the right thing? Only time will tell. …

In my opinion this is an average TV movie (which has a somewhat lame ending) but Shailene does a good job.

Thanks FLL. I've seen this one too a few years ago, probably on the Hallmark Channel. I seem to remember some funny moments at the beginning from the reluctant little con artist.
