[REL] Amber's Story (2006) (TV)

Postby kev » Sun Oct 29, 2006 5:35 pm  0 likes

A Lifetime TV movie about Amber Hagerman, the girl who's abduction and murder led to the creation of the 'Amber Alert'.

IMDB link:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0840999/

Lifetime TV link:
http://www.lifetimetv.com/movies/info/move3958.html

Synopsis:
The second a child is reported abducted, an alert is sent. A description of the youngster and the kidnapper goes out to the public on TVs, phones, electronic signs and other places. It's one of the best ways to help kids who have been taken and are in danger. But once upon time, there was no system in place. If a little girl or boy was snatched, almost no one knew about it except the panicked parents. But the kidnapping of Amber Hagerman changed all of that. This is the true story of what happened to this sweet nine-year-old from Texas and how her family came together to help others as a result. It's a movie that kids, teens and parents should see!

Amber Hagerman is played by Sophie Hough [ http://imdb.com/name/nm1015001/ ], but the movie also stars one of my faves; Jodelle Ferland [ http://imdb.com/name/nm0272706/ ] of 'Mermaid', 'Kindom Hospital' and 'Tideland' fame!

I'm sure Lifetime will eventually release this to DVD, but any update info. or links will be appreciated.

The link above is the correct movie, I had 3 of the 4 GB files above complete and the last one at 32% when the source disappeared. But luckily someone's DVDrip has since showed up on eMule!

I have only skimmed through this... the subject matter has me conditioned to think it's melodramatic and predictable. And I love melodramatic and predictable movies... as long as they are foreign and, preferably, posted here. :) U.S. ones I have had my fill of.

But the presence of Jodelle Ferland quite possibly redeems it, though she only shows up in the last half. This is a true story: Amber Hagerman was kidnapped and killed, and her parents successfully started a grassroots campaign to convince the government to establish the "Amber Alert" system. Jodelle plays a girl who is kidnapped but is rescued as a result of an Amber Alert.
