Camp Cucamonga (Alternate Titles: How I Spent My Summer, Lights Out ) is a made-for-television movie that aired on September 23, 1990 on NBC. The film was a family feature that served mostly as a vehicle to cast a variety of stars from TV shows that were popular at the time.
The backdrop for the film is the title camp, a summer camp where a variety of pre-teens go to do typical camp activities. Amongst the backdrop of this are two sub-plots involving the budding romance between two camp counselors, and a camp inspection gone awry.
The film is also notable for having been an early project in the career of a variety of actors who would go on to be hugely successful, including Jennifer Aniston and Breckin Meyer (in a supporting role). It was also the TV comedy acting debut of G. Gordon Liddy.
Former accountant Marvin Shector (John Ratzenberger) opens an overnight camp for teens, and he and his wife are unprepared for the reality of mixing pre-teens and young adult counselors. The first group of campers and counselors test his patience with pranks and mishaps. While "Colonel Marv" tries to keep things running smoothly, counselor Roger Burke (Brian Robbins) is doing his best to romance the female counselors, with special attention to counselor Ava (Jennifer Aniston).
