An overlooked, rare gem of a film from 1947, starring an 8 year-old Natalia Nikolaevna Zakharenko, aka Natalie Wood. This one shares a similar plot with "A Girl Named Sooner," as young Jenny (Miss Wood) is a ragged, little backwoods waif "adopted" by a kindly, young doctor and his fiancee. Like "Sooner," this film features a memorable scene in the tub (somewhat moreso than the RFF description would indicate).



I've seen this film more than once on broadcast and cable TV, as well as on video. Unfortunately, the only way to view this one "on-demand" is to acquire the VHS tape via Amazon.com. As for lovely, little Natalia, there's simply no clearer explanation for my life-long obsession with petite, brown-eyed brunettes:

Another on the very short list of child actresses who grew only more gorgeous with age. Gone too soon!

Thanks Hieronymus, this one looks good (though probably mainly if you like vintage films). This was 14 years befire Natalie Wood became (to me) a star, in West Side Story. She was quite busy with TV and movies before that though. Too bad much of her early TV is probably lost to history.

Someone put the RFF scene from this movie on youtube (the first of several Natalie Wood clips) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&v=BuS4QeRhncQ for anyone interested in that angle.

This film never made it to DVD and the VHS is out of print, so it's a rarity. A VHSRip is floating around though. The sound is a little rough but otherwise it's not that bad for an old VHS.

If you have it in DVD form I'll just delete the release part, but as far as I could tell from the net it never made it there. If you can improve the VHS rip that would be welcome!

reshare? I have been downloading since February - there IS a source out there but it is only on for short times - not enough to get to the top of the queue before it goes off - then I start again from the bottom. At this rate I will never complete it.
