This should need no introduction..........

The Little Princess is a 1939 American drama film directed by Walter Lang. The screenplay by Ethel Hill and Walter Ferris is based on the novel A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The film was the first Shirley Temple movie to be filmed completely in Technicolor. It was also her last major success as a child star at 20th Century Fox, and remains one of her most well-known films.
Although it maintained the novel's Victorian London setting, the film introduced several new characters and storylines and used the Second Boer War and the Siege of Mafeking as a backdrop to the action. Temple and Treacher had a musical number together, performing the song "Knocked 'Em in the Old Kent Road;" Temple also appeared in an extended ballet sequence. The film was given a happier ending than the book.

I have a few of Shirley's movies in HD. If some of you are interested, let me know and I'll try to post them! :)

Should I admit that I made an effort to collect all of Shirley's movies in one format or another?
(Mostly DVD, some downloads.)
More HD Shirley would be lovely! Thank you for this one!

You know, I'm a little shocked that there isn't a blu-ray box set collection of Shirley Temple's films. But I checked and can't even find discs for the individual movies.

It seems Disney owns almost all of her stuff now (aagh!). So who knows what will happen to them? Walt's Evil Empire of Greed is infamous for being dicks about releases, deliberately holding things back for years - sometimes decades. They're one of those companies that really likes the idea of consumers not actually owning anything.

Films today the Mickey is ashamed of such as Song of the South and other productions in those years the generation of glass is offended something prefer to remain locked in their vaults.

Oh no, Disney, I did not realize that, good grief. My immediate reaction to their acquistion of 20th Century Fox was general dismay, and my fears have been borne out with rare exceptions. The best we could hope for with Shirley movies is likely streaming on Disney+, and I suspect that Sully is probably right and we won't get even that. Of course I keep reading about Disney losses in their MEDIA empire (not their theme parks), so maybe they will continue to license out content, or maybe sell off ownership of the Fox library entirely. I can dream, can't I? I don't see any reason they can't keep Marvel and Star Wars for themselves and sell everything else. I would be willing to buy it for every penny I have!

I confess that as much I enjoyed watching Shirley's movies (into her teenage years!), I can not think of a single one of them where the imagery might demand a 4k UHD release, even for my favorites. I am both surprised and delighted by thequietgirl's 1080p Releases. I can also admit that without them, I would still be satisfied with my DVDs. These upgrades are a wonderful bonus.

"The Littlest Rebel" Release ( https://www.first-loves.net/forums/view ... 22#p112322 ) says it is sourced from BluRay in its name but I do not see evidence of a BluRay actually existing. I do see HD on iTunes. This is another movie like "Song of the South" that Disney would likely not touch with a 10 foot pole. The dancing scene with Shirley and Bill ‘Bojangles’ Robinson is fantastic. I have sometimes wished that Shirley had been as good a singer as she was a dancer. She was just too goopy syrupy for me. It was always her charm that allowed me to overlook that!

Original uploader probably mislabeled them, ngl. I haven't checked but not all of them are available in HD so I would be surprised to see Disney releasing the discs one by one. If they ever did, they'd probably just release a collection and we'd have all of them in the same quality.

I've always been very curious about Shirley's filmography and started collecting them when I spotted the first HD releases, a few months ago. I suspect them to be recent. I have most of them on DVDRIP, but either the quality doesn't suit me, or the sound just doesn't allow me to watch them comfortably and obviously, it's impossible to find subtitles for certain films.

Many early 1930s early sound films seem to have dreadful audio even in the best available quality, so I understand your problem.

Microphones in early Hollywood films were so bad that they hid them in plants and stuff and people had to speak in their direction. And the quality of the audio and recording devices wasn't very clean.
