FLMIFY

Post by loverboy »   0 likes

.......who wish to check torrent availability directly from IMDB.
You will need to install and run a small script so if you're not comfortable with that, I'd suggest leaving this thread now. Obviously I will accept no responsibility should your system go into meltdown although I can confirm it works well & is safe.

1: You will need to be using Firefox (you should be anyway!). I believe the script also works with Chrome

2: Install the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

3: Re-start Firefox

4: Install the imdb2leech script from here https://userscripts.org/scripts/show/73580

5: Visit IMDB movie page......if there is torrent availability clicking one of the links just under the title will take you directly to the torrent page.

Some of the links lead to private tracker sites & availability will be dependent on you being registered/logged-in.

<Admin Note> This script is no longer working. Check out the flmify script below.

Maybe nobody runs this script but in case they do..........
Since CG changed servers IMDB will point at the old server for torrent availability (in fact it will ALWAYS now show CG as a source, even if there isn't one! :wall )
Contrary to what some of the drama queens at CG think, it doesn't require a new script writing, simply editing of the existing one. Notepad will do just fine, changing any reference from cinemageddon.org to cinemageddon.net. (I think there are only two) Save the document & the job's done.

I've made a similar script that adds missing info to RFF and LMA. It has been successfully tested in Firefox and Chrome and should in principle also work in Opera (see https://userscripts.org/about/installing).

Installation in Firefox: Installation in Chrome (without Tampermonkey):

Nice. I like this sort of thing.

Unfortunately the imdb2leech script is not perfect, showing availability on some sites where none is actually present although it always seems to work well enough with CG.

This has already been useful because it showed me a duplicate thread first thing. Good work, mimzy.

Sounds like the beta test was successful, so I added the info to the FLM entry page (https://www.first-loves.net/).

I made this topic a "sticky" so people can find it easily.

Added target="_blank" to FLM links, so they are opened in new tab.

For those who are not familiar with javascript and wonder how the script works:
  • The script is executed by the browser after specific pages (RFF, LMA), defined in the script header (Firefox) or manifest file (Chrome), are loaded.
  • The script looks for an IMDB link at a specific location on the page (the script must be updated if the page structure of RFF or LMA changes significantly).
  • If a link is found, then the script makes a query to the FLM server. Here's how such a query looks like: https://www.first-loves.net/api/imdb ... =tt0136204. The query returns a list of all threads that contain the given IMDB ID (the first IMDB link in a thread defines the LMA link added after the thread title).
  • Result of the query is rendered into the HTML page.
IMDB index is automatically updated every hour.
