Star Galaxy (screencaps here)
Larry, a palm tree farmer in the Australian outback, learns that his ex-wife has died, and that his daughter, Lara (16 year-old Lauren Hewett), is coming to live with him. He wants things to work out, but Lara has a rocky time with Larry's new wife, Gladwyn, and their eldest daughter Pearl (12 year-old Chelsea Yates), as well as Gowd, a school bully. But with the help and love of her father, her new younger sister Opal (9 year-old Emily Browning), and a dog named Thunderwith, Lara just might find the resources to meet all the challenges in her way to make a home with this new family.
I'm surprised that this film hasn't made it onto FLM before. Although, the focus is on the older girl and her parents, there's plenty of quality screen-time for the younger siblings, especially little Miss Browning (not to forget the twin boy actors, Ben & James Hanson, playing the young brother, Jasper). I saw it when it was first broadcast on American television in 1998, and again a few years later on the Hallmark movie cable network. It's an entertaining, family film with cute Australian girls - what's not to like? There's also an outdoors, OT changing scene where the mom strips off Opal's dirty clothes (she is often grungy in this film). Alas! No obligatory bath scene, I'm afraid. Ah, well ...

If someone could snag an Amazon copy and fire up the VCR, this would be a
great addition to the FLM line-up.

[Note to ADMINS: This is a US-produced film, first broadcast in the US. However, it was filmed entirely in Australia, and the director and (almost) all of the cast and crew were Aussies. I say if it walks like a wallaby and talks like a wallaby ... ]
