This unusual film follows two men who travel through the countryside to explore issues of sex and death. Frequently included in the cast is a group of children from about six to eight years of age, one of which seems to be the son of one of our heroes. Difficult to know what it is, maybe if you speak Japanese, but generally unimpressive a piece that should interest all true cinemaphile

I don't think anyone bothered to even look for this before - zebra was a former member who made many many extremely bare-boned requests, rarely giving any more information than the film's name and expecting someone else to do all the work. Finally, many FLM regulars just ignored his posts.

Juan Tamad (Filipino for "Lazy John") is a character in Philippine folklore noteworthy for extreme laziness. He is usually portrayed as a child, although in some interpretations, he is said to be a young man.

It seems two separate films have been mixed up here in a complicated way. What we look for is obviously this movie (even the bathing scene mentioned by RFF is hinted at on the cover, it's the same as the thumbnail at RFF): https://img.arzon.jp/image/11/1076/1076538_1L.jpg

If so this is really a japanese movie (not a philipinian one) from 1990 (not 1991) and the title is in kanji モンゴリアンバーベキュー, which is in romaji "Mongorianbabekyu", that is "Mongolian Barbeque".

"Mongorian B-B-Q" as the movie is named at RFF and on the headline of Phuzzy4242's post (to make the confusion complete ) seems somehow to be taken from モンゴリアンBBQ = "MongorianBBQ" = "Mongolian BBQ", the name of a japanese dish (you can find it in this writing e.g. on Youtube).

The original request is evidently for the japanese movie as the description is repeated at RFF and the cover points in the same direction ...

As I said in my post, zebra rarely gave any information about films, he often just dropped a film title and nothing else, leaving it up to the rest of us to dif up any information about them. I posted what information I found, including the Mongorian B-B-Q title because I believed RFF more than I did zebra, and I believe that was the closest I found on IMDb. I can't look at the picture link you gave (looks like it's blocked in the U.S.) but I changed the thread title to show it's a Japanese film. Thanks for the info.
