I don't have much info of this...only a little plot in italian

GoogleTrans wrote:Desolate lands, landscapes between the forgotten and the post-something, full of abandoned ruins, of structures that could also date back to other eras of the past but technologically more advanced, in Italy they can exist only in the south and this is the place where the more absurd tales suddenly become credible. The War of the Cafons is set in 1975 in Puglia and adapting well the book of the same name by Carlo D'Amicis stages a world devoid of adults (except for the bartender), in which there are only children who perpetually violate a pugnacious law that pre-exists them. Every year the gentlemen clash with the peasants, the sons of the landowners against those of the peasants, fed by an aprioristic enmity, try to impose their dominion on others with malice, bullying and violence.
To move the waters comes an intermediate figure, a cousin of the boss of the cafoni, son of a mechanic. Originated in cafona but higher income, a trade in hand, some more knowledge, money to spend, ambitions for social climbing, the desire to break the rules and mix the waters. It is small (in every sense) what happened more or less in those years, the collapse of certain hierarchies and social change. But this is not the best part, this is, if anything, the most didactic that reminds the viewer of what he already knows. The strong part of the film by Davide Barletti and Lorenzo Conte (documentaries with already a fiction film behind them, Fine Pena Mai) is the way in which they manage to create an unreal environment in which to move the metaphor of true events.

In The War of the Cafons the absence of any adult is coupled with places that seem to have been abandoned for years, unstructured lands, lonely houses, shacks, ruins. In there the children move with different capacities. The cast is wide and not everyone is at the same level, but in the most effective moments La Guerra Dei Cafoni stages preadolescence for what it is: a naive rage of great effect, wild desires, violence and sentiment poorly managed.
Without a temporal connotation it could be pure dystopia, with a little more concreteness in the story and less vagueness in the references could be The Lord of the Flies. It's a shame that, especially in the final, the film seems a little scared of the idea of winning and never finds the perfect lock, preferring to leave everything vague, found that makes sense for the story told and the ambitions of social story but less as good as the plot had been.

It is interesting to note that the 24 boys of the cast, all aged between 11 and 17 and coming from various areas of Puglia (as is easily recognizable from the many dialects that are spoken), spent two months in a sort of laboratory from the production from which the parents were banned, and in close contact with all the members of the troupe, thus discovering firsthand what it means to make films. A note of merit certainly goes to them, all of them in their first experience and generally credible, with a few subdued moments that however do not obscure the overall performance.
