Ano sora wo oboeteru AKA Wenny Has Wings (2008)
(Literal translation of Japanese title: I Remember the Sky)

Based on the book 'Wenny Has Wings' by Janet Lee Carey

Synopsis:
Masato and his wife Keiko are a happy couple, with their children Eiji and Erina. He, she and Eiji are plunged into despair, after Eiji and Erina are involved in a car accident whereby Erina dies.
Synopsis doesn't really do this film justice. It's a classic Japanese 'tear-jerker', but it worked for me, due to the performance of Ai Yoshikawa as Erina ?Wenny? Fukazawa.

Erina essentially dies BEFORE the movie even starts but she has substantial screentime for the first two-thirds of the film, with flashbacks and visions her brother has.. Like I said, this film worked for me; I was in tears off and on for almost the entire film.. This is a little happy/sad gem among the rocky films I've seen of late.

Erina was a little brat, but only in a good way with her energy level turned up to '11' and that's only because it's as high as it goes. The boy who played Eiji also did a credible job. Good film, thanks kev.

But wait!!

Mine goes up to 12!

But... Mine goes up to 12...

Yes, Erina was most definitely annoying to her big brother.. But that was mainly because HIS energy level was set to 5 or 6 before the accident.

Of course, that was one of the things that tortured him afterwards; remembering how frustrated he got with her for her being her... :think

Regardless, this film had me bawlin' [ :icon_frown2 ] a few times before the end... :)
