The English subtitles are machine-translated from the Spanish. Google translate does well with Spanish-to-English, but there are definitely some parts that could use some correction. Still, it is perfectly understandable.

I am guessing the dual aspect ratio was how it was presented in Brazil theaters, perhaps, to give the two "worlds" a different look? The single aspect ratio view is more consistent, and playing it back on my 16:9 TV gives black bars through the ENTIRE movie that make the subtitles easier to read.
ALSO, the dual aspect ratio view has onscreen text in Portuguese and the single aspect ratio view has it in Spanish. It took me awhile to notice that, because either language leaves me lost!
