Residual ads may explain some of the difficulty synching the subs.

I would be interested in this goku, if you're still willing. Would you be able to post the subs separately as well?

Well... I edited the 15 GB file a bit and added a German audio track, including synced English subtitles:

Picture freezes sometimes
I don't know if the picture freezing is worse on older computers, BUT on the original file and my own remux I noticed some digital breakup / glitches for a few seconds at approximate timecodes 56:42, 1:06:31, and 1:37:14. This is also present in ghost's remux, but at different times because his is converted to 25fps from 24fps. I see this across different playback equipment, but they all play through without pause for me.

(Ah well, if we want perfection then we will need another Blu-ray rip from a different disc. 19Gb anyone?)

The BD image is 33.29 GiB, too large for me to download right now.

:o Wow, I have never encountered such language from you, ghost! :rofl

There are lots of things I do NOT notice, but this one was inevitable for me since I was watching the whole movie. I used to see that way too often on DVD.

It could also be something that a higher grade blu-ray player/ripper would avoid, even if there are disc errors. I just don't know. But I would have returned that disk to the store!

I could download it, but it would probably take me over 24 hours of processing time to compress it down to a smaller size!! (And ghost's computer would likely do it in an hour.)

Where did you find the image? Was it Usenet, a private tracker, or someplace free?

Yep, a private tracker. There's also no guarantee that the image itself isn't bad. It could all be the same source.

Right, it could be bad encoding of the rip itself, OR it could be a defective source disk. If the largest size image available is also glitchy, then only a new rip from a different and non-defective disk would fix it. A good encode will not fix a bad disk. This is exactly the kind of image error I have seen dozens of times on physical disks.

And if by chance the same Chinese group was also the originator of the full image, they likely spent quite a bit in shipping costs to import it from France to ... mainland China, perhaps? Even if they noticed the glitches they may reasonably have decided it was not worth the cost to ship it back! That is the danger of buying those expensive shiny plastic disks from another country thousands of miles away.

Well, here is the strange thing.

Le.grand.chemin.1987.1080p.BluRay.DD2.0.x264-MOMOHD.mkv appears to be identical to Le.grand.chemin.1987.1080p.BluRay.DD2.0.x264-PTer.mkv. In fact, if you look at the media info of the MOMOHD video you can see PTer in the movie title. Someone just renamed the 14 GB file to steal credit and uploaded it to Uloz torrent.
