Thanks, jezevex. I like "off brand" films like this - the ones not made by major studios in major countries.

Thanks Jezevex. I was in Kazahkstan 13 years ago making a documentary for the organization I work for. They lent me to a children's feeding program for a couple of days and I made a short documentary for them to help them raise funds. This will bring back a few memories.

There is a copy here which is 720p, but I don't know how to download it:

Hope that helps.

I am resharing jezevex's 576p file from 2014 on emule, although I actually direct-downloaded it from a post at blizzardkid.
(Links available with free registration and login):

The 720p VK file is surely a standard upscale from the same source, and I do not really see a difference in quality. It can be downloaded with Jdownloader2 or the Command-line yt-dlp. The latter requires the clean URL of the video opened in a new tab rather than the messy URL with the search information. I actually had to do a new search with the title in Cyrillic to find it with the clean URL.

There are also several other nearly-identical video results there.

Oh, all right, if jezevex's version is about the same I guess I'll just download that one since it's right here and take a look. I just thought I might have found a better one. Thanks for the info! :D

Yes, I was fooled for a long time by the standard resized 720p upscales on VK and ok.ru and similar sites. They generally do not improve video quality, they just make the video bigger. They are nothing like the AI-enhanced upscales that get done at FLM, which are bigger AND better.

The advantage of the VK is that it is streaming and easily viewable, and actually is fairly easy to download with the right (free) software.

And thank you for bumping the thread! This one is new to me.

Hmm. Maybe it's just me, but having seen the copy here, I'm going to try that jdownloader2, download the VK version and see if it looks better to me once it's playing on my VLC. :think

UPDATE: Well, I see why you didn't think there was much difference, Night457 - if it's there and not just in my head. Hopefully someone will do an AI-enhanced upscale for this like you said, like maybe, say, ghost (hint hint, nudge nudge ). The new download tool is great, though - thanks for recommending it! :D

I would have to project both on a bigger screen to be sure, but considering the plain upscale has apparently the same source I would not have expected a real improvement anyway. But glad you found JD2 useful!
