I wasn't clear on the the rules of sharing smaller file sized releases along with the bigger. I figured it would be better to post the one while the file proliferates to other users. For future reference, what is the general rule on that?

Don't look at me. I usually share file sizes similar to yours
Not everyone has the bandwidth and/or storage space for the biggest release available.
Then there's the matter of display size and resolution. If someone's going to watch it on a laptop screen, getting a very high quality rip is overkill.
Finally, there's the subject matter - for certain films I'll go for the best quality; for others a decent HD rip is good enough.
Personally I like to share the one I've got/ chosen to get, and mention that there are other releases out there so people can choose the one they want according to their preferences.
I am sharing bigger files too - 13 GB in one case - but if I can get good quality in a smaller file size, I'll prefer that. HEVC/x265/AVC etc. can give good quality to size ratios. I'm currently sharing nearly 1 TB and have to keep moving stuff around to make room.
