[REL] A Pin For the Butterfly (1994)

Post by kev »   0 likes

[Also noted to have been a Czech Republic production.]

Geeze, I've had this movie on my radar for YEARS! Dunno why I haven't thought to ask for it here!!!

It stars Florence Hoath [Fairy Tale: A True Story, The Governess, Tom's Midnight Garden, Back to the Secret Garden, ect] an actress that I have enjoyed in EACH of the movies I listed, and I'd LOVE to see as many of her early movies as possible.

The IMDB link:

http://imdb.com/title/tt0110836/

Pix:

http://images.google.com/images?q=A+Pin ... rch+Images
(The only pix I could find available were from Childstarlets...)
The movie captures a heart felt story of a young girl's pipe-dream of finding freedom [in the Czech Republic] and going to America with her Uncle.
I'm hoping that someone might be able to catch this running on some station in the UK or SOMEWHERE in Europe, and be able to tape it or something. I don't know if it's EVER shown in America :( .

ANY help would be appreciated! :bigups:

Hmmm.... No one has heard or seen anything about this movie since March?

Here's some pix:

The 2 bottom pix are from the movie 'Fairy Tale: A True Story' [already available here], the others are all from 'A Pin For the Butterfly'.

There's at least 1 OT scene that I know of, but this is a haunting little film that I've been searching for, for years! Someone in the UK; PLEASE help! :pray

'A Pin For the Butterfly' :bigups

Yippee, it's finally being released [or has been] on DVD!

imdb stuff:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110836/

Synopsis:
This complex political drama zeroes in on the life of a small bourgeois family living in Stalinist Czechoslovakia. It is set in the 50's. The family is falling apart from the pressure to think along party lines, even in private. The mere mention of the West could result in prison, or worse. Little Marushka is a normal, imaginative young girl who is not easily repressed. Her ways are not appreciated by her grandparents and her mother who possesses neither trait. Marushka's mother, an aspiring actress in the local socialist-realist theater, spends most of her time cozying up to local Communist leaders. She is too busy for her daughter which leaves the girl to be raised by her uncle and her grandparents. Marushka's uncle does not fully embrace Communist thinking. He values independence and free thinking. This gets the family in terrible trouble with the ever-present authorities.

According to imdb she was 10 when the movie was released, but if you look at these pix at childstarlets [ http://www.childstarlets.com/captures/m ... erfly.html ] she looks a good bit younger....

Anyway, I got my copy commin'! :thumbsup

"...You know what happens to little girls who doubt: They wake up in the morning, all their presents are gone... And they end up in HELL!!" :eyecrazy :pray :wall

LOL!

Just from catching a couple of mins of the movie I can tell I'm going to LOVE Joan Plowright's character... ;) What moronic things adults tell kids...

BTW: Thanks for this release, ghost! Not only did you beat me to the punch: Hell! You even beat my DVD! I ordered this a couple of days BEFORE I made my last post in this thread, and it STILL hasn't arrived! :(

Much, much thanks, again!
