Hide and Seek (2005)

A newly single father discovers his daughter is caught up in a web of evil in this thriller. David Callaway (Robert De Niro) has been left to raise his nine-year-old daughter, Emily (Dakota Fanning), on his own after the unexpected death of his wife. David is at first amused to discover that Emily has created an imaginary friend named "Charlie," but it isn't long before "Charlie" develops a sinister and violent side, and as David struggles with his daughter's growing emotional problems, he comes to the frightening realization that "Charlie" isn't just a figment of Emily's imagination. Hide and Seek also stars Famke Janssen, Dylan Baker, and Amy Irving. — Mark Deming

De Niro is bad actor. Only 1 face expression: "You look at me ? You want to fight ?". I think that people do not distinguish the fact that it participated in cult-movies and fact to being an actor. Al pacino is better. When Al play, you can forget him and see the character playing become real. With De Niro, you see De Niro make his funny moments. You never forget it's De Niro. And look, De Niro is so bad actor that he always need to change his body to play a character. The real actor doesn't need it. My two cents. ;)

Thanks for Dakota movie :icon_1dancingban

After Once Upon A time In America & Goodfellas, I have to say “De Niro is my favourite actor without any doubt”.

He is also very flexible and isn’t snobbish about playing more light-hearted rolls like in Meet The Parents.

I do like Pacino, but feel he has much less acting ability than De Niro.
Take Heat (1995) for example; Pacino is so bland, much like his other roles.

One thing I will say against De Niro, he's crap in interview situations.

Yes De Niro was good in "Heat". Of course, he isn't totally bad actor but I think he is overestimated. :snooty

Well, as a fan I thought I better defend him a little :)

What is really depressing is how old they both look now.
To think that I will probably be alive long enough to see them both die :(

I kind of agree with redcat's characterisation "only one face actor", but in spite of that De Niro has managed to turn out some great performances. And yes, he doesn't shy away from playing bad guy roles (Taxi Driver, This Boy's Life, etc.).

From STF, too: the complete disc with alternate ending, cut scenes etc. If anybody is interested, give me a call, I'll give you a "friend"-slot... :dance
