This is a short. Sorry, but have no link to it. It is Australian. Actress in it (Nikita Fisher) was in "Defenceless".

Thanks, and welcome to FLM sonnyjim!

I was able to find some info on this movie. Same director as Defenceless. I changed the title of the REQ to list the year as 2006, but I am not yet certain if this was when the short was released or when the compilation DVD was released.
Savage Sinema from Down Under: Stained (2006)

Get a look at Australian auteur Mark Savage's haunting cable TV drama Stained (based on actual events involving pedophiles) as well as 13 of his earlier shorts. His macabre short films, such as "The Gardener" and "Hitchhiker Horror," were all shot on Super 8 film with an instrumental score. Savage's raw, unapologetic filmmaking has generated critical acclaim as much as his heightened yet artful use of violence and eroticism has spawned notoriety.
There's a good chance I can get this if it doesn't show up soon. Thanks again!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, sonnyjim. Sounds interesting.

Also, thanks, FLL for adding the [REQ].. It was originally posted in the [REL] forum and I moved it here late last night, meaning to add the [REQ], but forgot... :blush

Turns out this isn't exactly a short, it was a 36 minute Australian cable TV production in 2005. The DVD bills it as "A True Crime Drama", but the beginning says "What you are about to see is not fiction." But it's not fact, either; it's a highly fictionalized dramatization of a news story, designed to shock people.

From http://www.popmatters.com/pm/feature/pr ... nt-cinema/
Based on a news report he read about a child pornography ring, Savage scripted a disturbingly direct look at such perversion. Created for Australian cable TV, 2005’s Stained stands as one of the director’s proudest achievements. “When I learned that there is such an organized trade (involving children), I was very angry, so I became determined to expose it. Of course, one filmmaker can do very little, but creating awareness of a problem is a step towards addressing it.” In order to get beneath the surface of the controversial subject matter, Savage envisioned a decidedly different approach to the subject matter. “I asked myself: What kind of person gets involved in such a vile world? The answer was: Your next-door neighbor. What do they lose of themselves in order to profit? Everything, of course. How do their actions impact on others? Totally.”

Realizing that “the precise details of the crimes were not important”, Savage centered instead on presenting a corrupt character piece, looking at pedophilia and its impact from the personal and the individual. The story is all suggestion: a man and his brother who may be trafficers in white slaves, a sinister fathers desperate to locate his daughter, a collection of little girls cowering in the corner of a dirty shed, a final act confrontation that seems both coincidental and non-conclusive. Outrageous depictions of cruelty and sexual contact were instantly negated since, as Savage puts it, “I didn’t need to show the direct abuse. Instead, I chose to focus on the details surrounding it. True to his genre roots, Savage suggests that such “literal representations would unbalance the narrative. I wanted the audience to imagine the rest.”

What’s on the screen, however, is devastating enough. As he proposes, Stained is like lifting the lid off of everyday suburbia and discovering a shit-strewn cesspool thriving underneath. None of the characters here appear archetypal or stereotypical, their motivations being more money than sexually motivated. The individuals responsible for keeping the kidnapped kids aren’t drooling fiends with their pants round their ankles. Instead, they go about their business, emptying piss buckets and providing food like some sort of jaundiced jailers. Because he doesn’t spell everything out in embarrassing black and white terms, Savage is able to situate his sinister circumstances directly under you skin. “People will use their imaginations if you give them strong triggers,” the director argues. “Often it is the best way to go. Every scene requires serious consideration. The point of attack is most important.”

...and unfortunately boring as hell... :wall (At least for me.)

I'm ashamed to say that I was hoping this would be a little more 'sensationalistic' in lieu of its premise, subject matter AND the director's reputation... :blush In that respect it didn't live down to my expectations. Tried to sit through it twice, and found my self dozing off each time. :eyecrazy STILL [lol] I'm glad I got the DVD! :think

The acting was more than a bit spotty, but the girls [for the short amount of time you got to see them] were cute!!

I'm waiting for a REALLY rainy weekend to watch the other DVD's in the set...

All that being said: THANKS FLL for taking the time to rip and post this; it will find it's appeal in someone's eyes, I'm sure! The story is sadly all too true...

[REL] Defenceless : A Blood Symphony (2004)

His previous movie was a pure shit and 1 year after, he made this movie and the progress is really viewable. The lack of money give to movie a documentary character. Full of good ideas, some progress in matter of staging. And the using of the violence reminds me Peter Jakson. With his previous movie, it's the black and white. Incredible. :eyecrazy
It's probably the short duration but it's what I call "movie".

Look like even the dumbest movie maker is able to become good. :onfire

Edit:
Savage Sinema from Down Under: Stained (2006)

Savage's raw, unapologetic filmmaking has generated critical acclaim as much as his heightened yet artful use of violence and eroticism has spawned notoriety.
I have not seen eroticism in this one (or I badly saw it) but this movie remind me Bad Taste (from Peter Jakson). Don't make any mistake, despite what the director said about it, this film is to rank near the B-series horror. The ones we saw in the 80s. His previous film was also a bad copy of one of these films (I though for example to "Henry, portrait of serial-killer")

And I told about documentary and also Bad Taste, of course both are related. Bad taste was filmed like a documentary.

Well a good surprise. I like it. :icon_thumbup1

Edit2:
But, because there is always a "but", the big mistake is to meet a really serious subject (cp) and staging from B-series. It's, and it's well choosen, a very bad taste. (I'm so good)
As B-movie, between thriller and horror, it's good movie. But for his subject, it's maybe too much. Such subject needed to be treaty more seriously. It's my opinion.
