Cute doggie in a flea-ridden kinda way. The kids are cute too.....until they open their mouths!

Benji is a lovable stray dog who lives in a small Texas town where he has befriended many local people, each of whom calls him by a different name. He gets plenty of food and attention whenever he visits with one of his acquaintances. He meets another stray dog, a diminutive white female with long fluffy hair, and the two dogs form a bond. When two children whom Benji loves are kidnapped and held for ransom, the dogs try to help, and Benji seeks out friendly human beings to assist him in freeing the children.

Benji is the first film in a series of nine about the golden mixed breed dog named Benji.

Low budget cheese it is, tonight!

Joe Camp made most of his movies with a budget of around $1,000, using friends and family and every freebie he could get from folks who 'wanted-to-be-in-the-movies'.. lol He pretty much built his entire career [to date] around this lovable mutt!

Cute and cheesy at its best. I actually saw this at the theater when I was a kid. I loved the whole series.
