Alex: The Life of a Child (1986) TV

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090602/
IMDb wrote:Based on true events, 'Alex: The Life of a Child' follows former 'Sports Illustrated' writer Frank Deford and his wife Carole when their happy, all-American family is rocked to the core when their baby daughter Alex is diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. While CF sufferers were almost certainly doomed to an early death in the Seventies, Alex grew into a child who showed remarkable courage and strength in face of her illness. Her loving family were quick to rally around her, determined to show the same bravery as the little girl as they supported and cherished her through life and struggled to move on after her death at the tragically young age of eight.
FLM interest is Gennie James (Places in the Heart).

I remember seeing this on television and it still haunts me.

Thanks starfish. This is a real three-hanky tearjerker with excellent portrayals all around. I'm going to try to download all the pieces when I get enough bandwidth - this is a definite wanna-have so if you know of other sources, let me know.

Well, I tried 3 different video joiners and they all screwed up one way or another, plus there's a second or two of duplicate frames between each section (15:00 each, and 5:54 for part 7). Anyway, here are the sections as downloaded from YouTube if someone else wants to have a go at joining them. I downloaded every part at '480p' but video quality is terrible as you can see in the caps - if someone finds a better rip, please PLEASE post it.

This was difficult to watch because it's so poignant. It was just as hard to watch again to get screencaps. That said, it's a definite keeper for me and I know I'll watch it more than once.

I downloaded the parts earlier when you first posted the request and plan to make a copy for myself. If it looks good I will post it.

With youtube sometimes the parts are different so they don't join properly. What I usually do is a encode for each part using filters and making each the same aspect, frame rate, etc and than do another encode joining them together into a finished file. Currently work has taken up a lot of my time and as such I haven't had time to rip anything lately. So if someone else gets this project done first and posts it that would be cool. ;)

you'll also have to cut a bit off each segment,as the last 15 secs or so is repeated at the start of the next clip.

I was able to join the youtube videos and convert them to avi. Since the program I use can't cut videos by fractions of a second there are still tiny 'hiccups' every 15 minutes, but considering the overall quality of the video, I can't see it really bothering anyone. I'm still looking forward to seeing an upgrade.
