Re: [REL] The children of theatre street (1977)
I've done a 720p update of the DVD to a 1.8gb mkv. The film has lots of dust and grain, but it must be an improvement on a 2007, 15 year old file!! If anyone is interested I can share it.

Yes, please go ahead. We're curious.

A documentary on the Kirov School of Ballet in Russia, narrated by Princess Grace of Monaco.
GRACE KELLY!!! Yes, I am interested in it, if only for the narration!
(Moved to Documentaries.)

Wow, I actually ordered this VHS from the USA back in... 2002 maybe (checking my stuff... yep, still have it), which I couldn't play until I got an NTSC VHS player. Getting old...
Re: [REL] The children of theatre street (1977)
The real question is can you STILL play it, because you kept the VHS player?
If Yes, then you are old.

ok, here's the links - if somebody wants to add it into eMule:

I also included a DVD extra which was a slideshow of photos, the poster, and screenshot montage. Hence why it's a zip of a folder with several files.

Thank you! I have been psyching myself up so I am prepared for some possible ballet torture scenes. I have no flexibility myself, so my legs already hurt.

The opening shot of Princess Grace is so blurry (given the background is in focus) it reminded me of Princess Leia's projection in A New Hope!
Please don't judge my 720p based on this scene! And a lot of the rest of the film has bad dirt that Topaz couldn't fix. The DVD print / negative really is pretty attrocious.
The slides were included in a DVD format that used only a few frames of video per image. So only by dropping the video frame rate to 1fps did the slideshow play at nearly the correct speed to last about 4 mins and not rush through in 10 seconds cutting off the music before it had started!

Doesn't look too bad. Thank you, David!
...except for the shitty framerate of 29.97 fps. The movements look jerky. It'a always better to detelecine a NTSC DVD to a framerate of 23.97 fps. It's possible with most of the material. Handbrake is a good choice for this.
I know, I always have to complain about something, so forgive me.

That is how Hitchcock and other Hollywood directors filmed her and other glamorous leads, in pleasing soft focus, right? I had briefly checked the video once I got it, and was so happy that she actually appeared onscreen in addition to her narration. I thought, Wow she still looked so YOUNG and smooth-skinned 20 years after her Hollywood retirement! But I looked it up and she was only 47. Now that I think of that as young, I am feeling old.
Her final feature film High Society (1956) has one of my favorite movie quotes, as her character the socialite Tracy Lord complains about a magazine that wants to cover her impending wedding:
And I'm to be examined, undressed and generally humiliated at 15 cents a copy?
I have not watched the ballerina footage yet, but I am sure to enjoy it even if it is a little jerky.
