Thank gawd someone fixed my wacky guesses at the meaning of the French!
Re: [REL] La storia di Cino (2013)
Well, just a short time ago you announced that you had almost completely mastered the French language, so I guess you needed a bit more of a challenge this time!
I don't exactly remember which parts of the (colloquial? rural vernacular?) French bewildered me the most (and I don't want to read the French dialog parts again to remind me) but I do remember that the gold prospector seemed to be speaking a mix of French and Italian within the same sentence! As in, the character would substitute words for one language into the other when he reached the limits of his vocabulary. This makes for a realistic character but a difficult translation when the listener and reader does not know EITHER language. (That would be me.)
So ... I look forward to watching it again and saying "OHHH, now it makes sense" for some of the dialog. Thank you!

Yes, and this was even more challenging! So in the end the whole thing was more difficult than I thought.I do remember that the gold prospector seemed to be speaking a mix of French and Italian within the same sentence!

Thank you for confirming my impressions of what was being spoken. I am sometimes surprised when I am not the only one thinking what I think. I wondered instead if I was having some sort of aphasic episode.
We can't both be losing it in the same way, so I am reassured.
