I don't know what the source was, but the quality is really good.

I recomend the one titled - M3GAN.2023.1080p.AMZN.WEBRip.1400MB.DD5.1.x264-GalaxyRG.mkv
Proper download rip quality, 5.1 AC3 audio. 1400mb. English, English SDH and French subtitles. Not seeing any bad mpeg blocking. Incredibly impressive considering the 5.1 audio track is probably 250 of the 1400mb! Don't know how they do it!!! The 6gb versions might look a bit better if you have a huge TV - but this evenings viewing is planned now!

Watched this last night. Was a good film. The M3GAN actress should get more credit for her performance given the robotic movement. Amazing. More thoughtful than I expected. A bit far-fetched that a lab of 3 people made such a robot. I'm sure 100s work at Boston Dynamics. Some nice atmospheric music too - and yeah, the above torrent is excellent quality. Amazingly it doesn't suffer for being 1400mb for 1080p! There's a lot of "locked off" stationary cameras, not loads of action - so maybe that helps? Plenty of screen time for Codie(sp?, the girl), and M3GAN. There's some funny bits with voices. The M3GAN voice work is clever too, with some inciteful comments.

If you're pleased with lower quality, ok. 1400 MB for a 100 minutes movie means a pretty low bitrate.

It's amusing studios release 4k versions of their films including Marvel films and others shot digitally. But yet a lot of these films, at least up until maybe 4 years ago or so were recorded on digital cameras like the Ariflex that are capable of only 3k (I presume this is also horizontal resolution as 1080p was about vertical resolution and 4k is a measure of horizontal resolution). So I imagine they're actually doing AI upscales themselves! The RED digital cameras are capable of 5k vertical - but I read the Ariflex are preferred by most of the Hollywood cinematographers for their better dynamic range.

Incase you are shocked about the low resolution - Toy Story was rendered at a mere 1,536 by 922 pixel - less than 1080p - but due to great anti-aliasing I bet you never saw the jaggedy pixels on diagonal lines, or pixelation in the cinema.

"Yes, but..." as the saying goes. Here we are talking more about bitrate rather than resolution. You can have multiple files with the same resolution (1080p), but a really low bitrate file will not look as good as a higher bitrate one.

(I think you are right about most 4k digital movies being upscales. Perhaps very well done ones, but still upscales.)

I've only looked quickly at a few downloads of "Megan" and have never seen "Toy Story", so I can't speak directly to specific versions of those.

(And yes, I am totally done with the stylized spelling of this one. )

I only go nutso with superlarge 50Gb+ 4k downloads of really special movies, like "Poltergeist" or "Die unendliche Geschichte". For most movies I am fine with relatively smaller files. (Under 5Gb.)
