Three friends, Robban, Alexander and Kim have just left the compulsory school, and now they consider themselves grown-up and mature, being 16 years old. During the summer holiday they also get a bit of experience of the world: Robban becomes a full-time drug addict, Alexander plays in a rock band but leaves it and Kim is desperate to get the girl of his dreams.

This coming of age story set in the youth music scene of 1980's Stockholm features 16 yo Ulrika Örn in one of only two movies she ever made.

Sadly there are no English subs on the disc and I couldn't find any online (although opensubtitles does have them in Swedish and several other languages). If anyone would care to translate feel free to post them here - I'll incorporate them into the disc and replace my links. Meanwhile ...

I think you just made my day which had been quite rough today! This looks really sweet and Sweden in the 80s, awesome.

The name of the film is unfortunate for any searches :/

I assume it was shot on 35mm Film? IMDb technical details category just says „color“ and „length of film: 2,990m“)

Tell me about it. Could be worse though, there's another movie X (1986) which is also amazing but try finding it buried in all the porn if you do a search.

Answer: 35mm Film.

(It also says "Fujicolor" which is most definitely Film and not videotape. The question is, 35mm or 16mm, right?)
Technical facts

Sound system - Dolby Stereo 04
Color type - Color
Coloring system - Fujicolor
Carrier - 35 mm
Speed - 24
Length in meters - 2990 meter
Duration in minutes - 109 min
Acts - 6 rolls

Ha, that was my first thought as soon as I saw the thread title!

I used the alternate movie title "G - Som i gemenskap"

Oh my god I love the Swedish film institute. They list this film as „digitalized“ and when you click on it (https://www.svenskfilmdatabas.se/sv/digitaliserad-film/)they say the following:
Here we list all films that the Swedish Film Institute has digitised, in 2K or 4K. The digitisation of the Swedish film heritage is an ongoing process that began in 2013. Our collections contain 2,600 Swedish feature films and 6,700 Swedish short films, and the aim is to make them available to the public through digitisation. All digitised films can be booked for cinema screening and viewed on location at the Film Institute's library in Stockholm. Many can also be streamed through the Film Institute's library service Cineasterna and other streaming services. Several are also available on DVD.
So this film definitely already exists in 2k/4K

Well, the fact that deadman's source is a DVD is proof that it is (officially) digitalized. It has long been the case that rights-owners have a digital master or restoration that exceeds what is publicly released on disc or streaming. This just shows that there is at least potential for a 1080p version. We just have to look to see if it is online, and not just available as a DCP.

I looked at svtplay.se and did not find it.

It is apparently available for rental, but what resolution it does not say:

Thank you deadman! I enjoyed this, it reminds me of a younger and gentler version of Spetters (1980), but about music instead of motorcycles.

I spent most of the movie wondering why I recognized the singer "Alexander" (Sebastian Håkansson), and then I finally realized I knew him as "Abbe" from [REL] Du är inte klok, Madicken (1979)

I am working on making English subtitles.

People often mistakenly think 4K resolution has never existed until recently. When in fact most commonly used film types dating back to the pre-WWII golden age of Hollywood have resolutions in that range. You just couldn't get it outside of a movie theater. It would be nearly a century before television caught up. But yeah, many films from the 1930's could be mastered in 4K, native, not upscaled. The biggest obstacle isn't film resolution but the condition of the negatives or prints used and how many you can find - the most basic restoration technique is to use multiple copies, where one is damaged another one won't be, digitally composite undamaged segments and color correct to restore original quality.

Almost everything posted on this site (with a handful of exceptions) could be released as a full 4K bluray, if the rightsholder decided it was worth doing. Or a standard 1080p bluray. The deciding factor is money rather than technical issues. Very little of what's been released in the last 50 years is likely to be in such bad shape that heavy digital restoration is needed.

Which hurts me even more that the director of the SciFi Film „the man from Earth“ used miniDV. But it’s a Limitation of small indiefilms I guess..but then again.that Film had some known professional actors in it. And they couldn’t rent some actual 35mm Film cameras? (It was right around the transformation to digital HD cameras)

By the way, I also searched on some Nordic torrent trackers for the film of this thread, no luck.

The Man From Earth. That's the one with the 10,000 year old professor, right?

Couldn't find this film online anywhere. Just a few low quality clips. I ordered the DVD, that's how I finally got it.
