Update on solidtorrents 720p dvdrip h265
The video quality is excellent, the audio is in original language, and audio is not so subdued . HOWEVER, it sounds to me like the audio is almost entirely on the right side. Anyone want to verify with me? I'll be seeding the heck out of the file for anyone interested. Specifically, it is this one:
https://solidtorrents.eu/torrents/gore- ... 990c85a5d/
(you may have to click on magnet link)
Note of interest. In the very beginning, the kids are in the middle of French lessons, which may be why languages sounds so different right away.

Re: [REL] Up in the Cherry Tree (1984) [Bulgaria]
Hey, thanks for the other sources!
I agree, the VK files are multivoice Russian dubs. The YouTube video is Bulgarian and the same source as starfish's file, but starfish's is better.
I am interested in those solidtorrents files.
However, the original theatrical sound is MONO. It SHOULD be either centered for the middle speaker rather than on right or left; or else reprocessed as dual mono, the same track on BOTH the right and left. (On a laptop it does not really make a difference.) Remixing it should not be hard. I have never done this, but I can't see it being any more difficult than processing video with the software I have. I will wait and see. It's going really fast with you and the other seeders working together, thanks!
But what I am really interested in is that monstrous 6.53Gb "Gore.na.chereshata.1984.1080i.HDTV.x264.ts"
It supposedly has one seeder but I don't see any life in it at the moment. Are you trying for it? Did you get any of it? If it is real 1080, it could be an even bigger improvement. But if the 720p is better than starfish's file, I will be happy enough. I could easily watch this one again someday.

Of course there is no such thing as a 720p dvd (only up to 576p), so this must be an upscale from a dvdrip. I am glad it is a good one! I am going to get this one too, but I don't have any headphones to be certain of left or right. I would have to run from one speaker to another, aww jeez. Or pick them up and pretend they are headphones??pillowbaker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:43 am Update on solidtorrents 720p dvdrip h265

Yeah, I saw that 1080p and jumped on it. I haven't gotten a single byte yet and my client doesn't even display a seeder. Gonna keep trying! I've got some torrents that I've gotten lucky with lately.
Yeah, at 720p, this dvdrip would definitely be a an upscale, and a fairly decent one, it seems. I was totally surprised; when I first check on it, it was at 90% and blazing! Solidtorrents registers 0 seeders for it, so I had little hope of getting it. Goes to show, it's worth giving any old, dead torrent a try.
In the past, with audio balancing issues, I have simply shifted the Left-Right balance according to how I wanted it to sound, so the audio was shifted in real time. I remember doing that as far back as on my old cassette recordings. I haven't had to do that in a long time, and I haven't don it yet with this version of vlc.
Turns out the 720p upscale I got from vk had a Russian VO. Out of the 4 available, I coulda sworn there was one with the original audio. I might have picked out the wrong one, I sometimes make those kinds of mistakes.
Re: [REL] Up in the Cherry Tree (1984) [Bulgaria]
This is quite a good 720p upscale, though not as good as what ghost does. It is not restored, but it is sourced from a copy with minimal print damage. It has NO watermarks. It is in the CORRECT 25fps, not the awful 30 we sometimes get. Though: I have to admit I did not sit down and watch it carefully in motion.pillowbaker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 2:43 am Update on solidtorrents 720p dvdrip h265

The pre-movie (DVD-R?) text-scroll makes it so it is not in sync with the opensubtitles English file, but resync was a straightforward change. I did not have to make multiple readjustments for a whole separate block of subs like I had to for the starfish file. (Something about the TV-broadcast source got the final part slightly out of sync for that one.) I did fiddle a little with the opening credits subtitles.
Synced English subtitles for 720p upscaled solidtorrents file:
The codec media information claims it is AC3 2 channel L R, but what I hear from my admittedly unsophisticated sound system is CENTER and RIGHT!! Hmm, I am going to have to think about that one. I am not ready to tackle a remux and sound check tonight.HOWEVER, it sounds to me like the audio is almost entirely on the right side.
That 1080i file was blazing along with a 100% source a few minutes ago. Right now I have just two peer sources with partial downloads, and no doubt one of them is pillowbaker. I'll stick with this one awhile, as the full seeder is likely to come back.

Re: [REL] Up in the Cherry Tree (1984) [Bulgaria]
Yeah, this is especially not bad, considering how much we really see coming out of Bulgaria.
Nice job on the video quality rundown, Night. And of course, thanks for adjusting the subs. I was still occupied trying to grab other options for the file. I'll spend a little time looking for a decent DVD source, and the move on. I am live with this upscale as well, and keep that 1080i file on the backburner for a while.
A remux may not be necessary. While playing the file in vlc, go to audio drop down menu, stereo mode, and select "mono". This pushes the sound through all speakers and sounds... satisfactory. Setting it to "left", and the audio is obviously completely silent. Oddly enough, setting audio to "right" allows sound through the main front left speaker. :O Also, selecting "reverse stereo" balances things out slightly better, though left speaker sound is also noticeable quieter.
But if you're down to do a mux, I am very interested in learning.

Re: [REL] Up in the Cherry Tree (1984) [Bulgaria]
Well you were right! Guess what fully downloaded. Considering I have 10 torrents stuck between 96% to 99.9%, this is very surprising to me.
Audio on this one is better, with proper audio balancing. Only issue is it was encoded or recorded in the wrong aspect ratio, but switching to 4:3 fixes the problem but then the little watermark get squished a bit. But hey, I think this is pretty good!
edit:
Anyone who is curious and doesn't want to wait for an emule release, don't grab the 720p torrent, grab the 1080i, linked here:
https://solidtorrents.eu/torrents/gore- ... da5a705b7/
I'll be seeding it for a while. Right now, it has 5 full seeders. Note, it is 6gb, and the 720p is only 2.3gb and also has synched subs courtesy of Night, so it is fine as well, if you don't mind goofin with the audio balance a bit.
Re: [REL] Up in the Cherry Tree (1984) [Bulgaria]
Much chatter about these torrent files that I will SPOILER because I tend to go on rather long...
I have this sneaking suspicion that the "lone seeder" for the 1080i file is an FLM member who jumped to reshare it after seeing mention of it in this thread. AND others have joined in the torrenting too. Whoever you may be, thank you very much!

Can you reseed it again? I tried to download it but no seeder rn. Thank you!pillowbaker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 12, 2023 7:15 amWell you were right! Guess what fully downloaded. Considering I have 10 torrents stuck between 96% to 99.9%, this is very surprising to me.

Re: [REL] Up in the Cherry Tree (1984) [Bulgaria]
The files posted below are re-encoded from the previously mentioned 1080i HDTV .ts file torrent, except these are in the correct 4:3 aspect ratio. The source and my re-encodes have a few mild digital breakup video glitches and occasional film damage, but otherwise look very good and much better than previous versions.
