Whaaaat, why not? ;)

Some trolls think it amusing to name and share fake files as something else. Sometimes you download what seems to be a perfectly ordinary movie and it turns out to be unrelated porn.

I think this is totally ridiculous because the most obscene content is readily available with very descriptive titles. Well, I am just assuming it is porn. Maybe they are just episodes of "Sesame Street" or "Care Bears" with fake disgusting titles, just to troll the perverts who are intrigued.

The advantage of using the files shared here is that usually a member has already downloaded and verified that the film is actually what it claims to be. They have already assumed any "risk" on behalf of everyone else. They help weed out the flawed and fake files.

But let us not overstate this risk: if I am looking for something, I will search in emule and on torrent sites, downloading anything until I get what I want. Most of the time a movie IS what it claims to be.
Ahhh, lol no conspiracy, I was talking abour pron type searches where temptation awaits :onfire

Also a newbie to the site and eMule. I followed the set-up guide meticulously but got stuck at the point where I needed to login to the router to adjust settings there. I'm not the admin of the router so I have no access to the settings.

Also the server list I copied from the guide yielded blank results so I went back to one of the servers that came with the installation. Results have been spotty as far as using links from here.

Anyway I'm glad this site exists.

That could be a serious problem for doing some things in eMule, for sure. Depending on the source of your internet (work, university) you may not be permitted to do peer-to-peer sharing on it, so make sure to consider that also. (You could end up getting fired!) I am not sure what workarounds are possible, which depends on what exactly you are trying to do. The one thing I can think of that involves router settings is trying to get HighID. I have access to any router or router administrator that I would use for personal reasons (rather than business). Even then, my current ISP does not have the capability to do port-forwarding. There are some (not all!) VPNs that allow port-forwarding, which can give you HighID. Whether your ISP / employer / university even allows you to use VPNs is another possible restriction.

I use AirVPN because of its optional port-forwarding. There are inexpensive short-term packages that can be used to try it out and see if it is what a user wants.

[DISCLAIMER: I am not affiliated with AirVPN in any way and this is not paid advertising. I am simply sharing what I use. Naturally you should explore other options.]

I should also state that there are many FLM members who have only LowID and seem to manage just fine with it. The difficulty is mainly in sharing with other LowID emule users. The HighID users act as an intermediary by also sharing other people's files. This is something that people ought to do anway, at least in the short term: share back what is taken. Don't tell anyone, but there are times when I download and share files even when I am not particularly interested in them myself, because I happen to know the uploader has LowID and that other LowID members will want that file.

At least you managed to get emule set up, good job!

In the "Server" tab of your eMule client, in the box "Update server.met from URL" you can paste the following and click "Update":

Code: Select all

http://upd.emule-security.org/server.met
The above is the address that I use to update my server list.

Searching this site or the Setup thread you may find additional useful information.
Step-by-Step eMule Setup (use the "Search this topic..." search box)
You can post any specific questions in that same thread. If you check out the last few pages of it, you will see some of the more recent issues that have been discussed. There are people here with an incredible amount of eMule experience and are willing to help.

Welcome to FLM!

Thanks so much for the reply, and the welcome. Is this site very active these days?

I'm restricted because of the type of connection I have. My comp is wired using a double NAT connection, my own router with personal WiFi, connected to the main router, both owned by the landlord where I live.

There are other sources a lot of the films here, with varying degrees of quality of course. I'll have to take my chances when eMule is a dead end.

Activity comes and goes, but it is active enough for me NOT to have enough time to watch all that I download! Still, new Releases are always appreciated. No one should think that there are too many movies here already. It is nice to have an abundance of riches.

I can see why you can't control the router settings, though it sounds like you have working eMule but only with LowID. That seems to work well enough for many people here.

Only working emule links make a file a Release, but some people also choose to share their files on direct-download sites like Mega or Zippyshare. Many movies can also be found on ulozto.net

Enjoy!

Heya welcome to Asmrdwarf and DylanFennel, hope you enjoy the theme of the movies here! Dylan, did you manage to get a server list created with the .met link that Night provided?

Like Night mentioned, if you're unable to mess with router settings, you should be able to get by well enough on LowID. Even if it hampers you a bit with trying to share back, most people here are happy to share movies anyways. Go head and trying some downloads! And tell us your suggestions and favorites. Here's a link to a thread where some members list and discuss some of their favorites. There are some pretty good movies suggested there.

That's an interesting question, for which I have two answers:

IF you are referring to the WEBSITE firstlovemovies: YES it is very active. Daily activity with a small but dedicated crowd of posters and lurkers, a good team of admins and mods.

BUT I have a feeling you're referring to the e-Mule links and availability. Which depends! Typically, if a link has been posted here, there will be maybe 10 or 12 peers downloading or sharing your file on ED2K and through Kademlia, which is more than yr average torrent file, but considerably slower. You'll need a little patience and not expect to download a file in 40 minutes. For example, I posted a file a few hours ago and so far, only 1 peer has downloaded the file. That's because 6 out of the 9 peers I saw, were chinese peers who typically download bits, but do not share at all. Sharing is important for the file to be readily available faster to more clients, much like other P2P systems. For faster sharing though, you'll need a High-ID setting, and access to your modem settings as described above.

In general, are you looking at an older topic, the file will be less widely available, as opposed to a very recent (and popular) post.

hope this helped,

Don't go quietly into the night.
