An allegory about humankind progresses from a savage state to a civilized form, that is only a cover for its innate barbarism.

Found on eMule, looks like a DVDrip.

A tribe of primitive "mudpeople" encounter a croquet ball, rolling through their forest. Following it, they find themselves on a vast, deserted Long Island estate. Entering, they begin to become civilized and assume the stereotypical roles and dress of people at a weekend party. There follows an allegory of upper-class behavior. At last, they begin to ...
(End of film spoiler omitted.)

This is an odd art-house film. Feel free to look up info online and read reviews. If it interests you then fine, but no one start crying if they hate it! It has been 18 years since the one time I saw it so I am not certain, but from scrolling quickly through the video it looks like the girl child only appears briefly.

Therefore I am pretty sure it is OFF-TOPIC, but if someone watches it before I do they can say what they think. For now I am putting it in RELeases with this warning.

Actually at some point I think this movie used to be here... :think

Regardless though, you are quite correct Night; the tween savage Eva Saleh, listed [not on the initial list, but on the 'All Cast' page] as Nia, the Child only has snippet scenes scattered throughout the film. Born in '59 she was around 13 at the time of the film's release in '72. While more or less a peripheral character lending only minor [ ;) ] support to the plotline* [if you can even call it that], I feel her presence in the film makes it worthy of a full OT release.

We have many, many films in our library where children have less screen time than she does. An early Ivory/Merchant production worthy of a spot here at FLM... :P

Definitely strange, and not for all tastes, but I enjoyed it [waaay back when.... ] enough to get the VHS and DVD releases.
Spoiler:

(*?Plotline?: A group [?family?] of savages emerge from a forest onto a seemingly abandoned bourgeois estate. They hesitantly check things out then begin to don the elegant clothes and play out their savage interpretation of high society. After awhile and a few humorous scenes, they get bored with it all and shed the clothes and return to the forest...)
At least that's what I got out of it, watching it [like Night] MANY years ago.

Isn't it funny how old people can remember something from decades ago (like long-gone posts from before the changeover) but we (I include myself here) have trouble remembering stuff from the past few years? :icon_old
I feel her presence in the film makes it worthy of a full OT release.
That's good enough for me, mate! :D

The only reason I bought the DVD was because it was a Merchant Ivory Production. I think I have a complete collection, except for perhaps a few titles where they were supporting another director.

If you have the DVD, any chance of a decent DVD rip?
Even if you can't upscale, a decent rip at decent resolution would be nice. AVI (divx or xvid) is quite a poor and lossy codec vs mp4 at this quality.
Although at least this is 1.3gb, not a CD sized compressed version! 700mb encodes at 360p are so hard to watch after being spoiled with 720 and 1080p's!

YES, since you ask. I should be able to do that. I just want to know: have you seen what is available for this movie and liked it? I do not want to waste my time if people will just watch it and then say "What is this shit?" It is an odd movie.

It might take me a little time, I am out of practice.

Would you be interested in a full DVD-iso instead?

FULL DVD COPY
Savages.jpg
I decided to experiment with different free file upload sites. I rechecked my uploads by downloading them, but let me know if there are any problems. I might be able to fix them if not too much time has passed. If I can't fix it, you will at least feel better for complaining! ;)

MEGA has a limit of 20 Gb free storage. It seems the files stay available until I delete them to free up the space or I fail to use the account for six months. These links probably will not stay around forever, so get them if you want them! It has fast upload speeds and even faster download speeds.

This is the full SAVAGES DVD with English language and optional DVD subtitles, along with extras. (See picture above.) The 15 RARs under 500 Mb each will extract to a 7.3Gb ISO file.

The same 15 files in a link to a single folder. Downloading works well with JDownloader:

ZIPPYSHARE has unlimited free storage. The files stay available until 30 days after last being downloaded. (I don't plan on downloading them to keep them live, so they will surely disappear!) It has much slower upload speeds but fast download speeds.

These are the same RAR files as at MEGA, extracting to a 7.3Gb ISO file.

ULOZ does not have any storage or time limits that I know of, but I admit I don't read all the fine print! Uloz files seem to stay around until the user deletes them. It has very slow upload speeds but moderately fast download speeds, especially using JDownloader if you like that.

This is the MOVIE ONLY, no extras. It is uncompressed in unchanged DVD quality, encased in an MKV with the optional DVD subtitles.

This is the same MOVIE ONLY DVD quality file that is at Uloz. English with optional English subtitles.

Thanks! Seems to be impossible to download from Zippyshare, though. Maybe if you have a good ad blocker...
