I found a 1080 web-dl at a very reputable place. It won’t necessarily mean it’s a 35mm rescan but it’s definitely untouched 1080p Web-dL of a legitimate Streamen site/provider.

Could you possibly post it? That would be appreciated! :biggrin
Seconded, that would be great

Answer: 35mm Film.

(It also says "Fujicolor" which is most definitely Film and not videotape. The question is, 35mm or 16mm, right?)
Technical facts
Picture format - 1.66:1
Sound system - Dolby Stereo 04
Color type - Color
Coloring system - Fujicolor
Carrier - 35 mm
Speed - 24
Length in meters - 2990 meter
Duration in minutes - 109 min
Acts - 6 rolls

Ha, that was my first thought as soon as I saw the thread title!

I used the alternate movie title "G - Som i gemenskap"
To answer for 16mm vs 35mm all you need to know is how fast 35mm film runs through a camera given we have a length of 2990 metres.

I saw on a website: "For 16mm, there are roughly 10 minutes of footage in 400ft and 2.5 minutes in 100ft. For 35mm, there are roughly 3.5 minutes of footage in 400ft."
Makes sense that 35mm film runs a lot faster as it's bigger... so doing the math:
400ft x0.305 = 122m (30.5cm in a foot)
2990/122 = 24.5x
24.5x 3.5minutes = 86minutes
So yes, that's a lot closer to the run-time of the film than the calculation for 16mm!
It would appear that 400ft of 35mm film is more like 4m25s of film (ie. 109/24.5 = 4.4)!

The film is also said to be 6 rolls - but they mean reels. Can check this out to see what that means. The change of reels can often be seen in old films when there's a black dot in the corner, other markings and sometimes a wobble in the film where somebody's s glued the 2 reels together. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reel
Though what doesn't make sense is a reel is supposed to be about 11 minutes according to Wikipedia - but this film is 6 reels. Would need to be 18minutes to be only 6 reels!

But it says right in the technical facts that it is 35mm, no need for all that math!
Besides, even if a film is SHOT on 16mm to save money on negatives, the prints would still be 35mm for the theaters. I was assuming this site was giving the type of film used to shoot it (here, 35mm) as well as the length and reels in the standard distribution format (also 35mm), no matter how it was shot. If it had been shot on late 1990s digital video it would in the theaters on 35mm regardless.

And now the standard distribution format is a hard drive.

I guess no one ever got a hold of that 1080p copy, then? I actually rented it from SF Anytime, and it's just 720p. I'm not going to bother checking out the one from the Blockbuster site since I imagine that's also 720p. There are other sources but I'm not able to access them since I'm not a Swedish resident:
