[REL] Het smelt (2023) [Belgium/Netherlands]
Re: [REQ] Het smelt (2023) [Belgium/Netherlands]
Damn! I opened a new thread in the [Netherlands] forum.
I merged the two threads. So don*t wonder about the "double" pathe-thuis posts.
Please give me some time to translate the Dutch subtitles.

I think this is a movie I'll watch right away this evening.

I reread one of these threads earlier today. Thank you for realizing that without your explanation, I would worry I was losing my memory even faster than before.
Thanks for the movie!

Thank you, Ghost, that you shared it with us! Just one warning - it's really not an easygoing movie for the beginning of the weekend...

Your warning came too late, jez. I've just watched it.it's really not an easygoing movie for the beginning of the weekend...
Yes, and there's a very brutal scene towards the end. But I won't give any more away for those who haven't watched the movie yet.
Re: [REL] Het smelt (2023) [Belgium/Netherlands]
Yes, I foreboded that it won't be an easy-to-watch one but still, I expected something different. I was misled by the plot summary where is written that she is returning to her birthplace for the commemoration of some childhood friend, thinking she or killed him, was a witness of his murder and didn't report it, or just took a part in some dangerous children's game that led to his death by accident, falling from the roof or dying in a fire in the barn, for example. And now, she has qualms about it. There are some movies like this, but in this case, I was wrong.

D'oh! Yeah, I forgot about the previous thread too, as you can tell.
Very much looking forward to this one. Have little idea what to expect. Thank you for the movie and subs, ghost!

Yeah, I was expecting one of those stories where a group of friends was doing something stupid as kids and one of them died, then the rest of them covered it up, now this one woman is going back and having to face what happened all those years ago. Something like that.
Young actress Rosa Marchant was 16 at the time filming on this movie completed, older than she looks (before looking her up I guessed 12 or 13). Here's a detailed interview with Rosa and director Veerle Baetens where they discuss the making of the film:

Thank you Ghost, for bringing this movie to us. It's a difficult watch in places but I'm glad to have been introduced to Rosa Marchant.
