Two stories about being lost. Sylvia drives with her two step-children to nearby Poland for shopping. As so often, mounting tension and quarreling ensue in the car. Sylvia stops the car angrily, ordering the children to get out. She continues driving and goes back some time later to the spot where she left them. But they disappeared. After a brief search, Sylvia returns home and cannot find a way to tell joseph, her husband and the children’s father, what she has done. Joseph is in anguish about his children and begins to search for them, accompanied by his wife. Meanwhile in Poland, the children meet a travelling salesman who promises to bring them home. But his help proves to be unreliable
