[REL] Aurore (2005 & 1952)

Just stumbled across this one...

IMDB link:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0430895/

Synopsis[es]:
The year is 1909. In the village of Sainte-Philomène de Fortierville, Marie-Anne Caron, wife to Télésphore Gagnon, gives birth to their second daughter, Aurore. The child grows up in a loving and happy family, but in 1918 her mother dies of tuberculosis. Shortly after, Télésphore Gagnon decides to remarry, having fallen under the spell of his beautiful cousin, Marie-Anne Houde. Marie-Anne is not the devoted stepmother everyone takes her to be, however...
...Everybody knows, real atrocities aren't caused by monsters or ghosts. Before watching Aurore, I thought Passion of the Christ was the most disturbing movie I've had ever seen. I was damn wrong! Though my appetite for cinema had yesterday been fed by one of the best movies of all time, I wish I never watched it, and I will never (I mean never) watch it again!!

The acting is so great that you easily forget all these faces you've already seen on TV a million times. This is not like you're just watching a movie, this is like something terrible is happening in front of you and you can't do nothing but watch... I guess sometimes we have to know what we don't want to...
...This is a movie about torture and we don't see any of it. It's only implied.
What can I say about Marianne Fortier who played "Aurore". Those EYES! My goodness! The child acts with her eyes! Beautiful job for her first time around!
Hélène Bourgeois-Leclerc did a MAGNIFICENT job interpreting the evil step-mother. Actually, she's not evil, she's crazy. Hélène definitely carries the whole movie! I actually felt sorry for her because she's so demented. I hated the step-mother in the original film because she was just plain mean and enjoyed torturing Aurore. But in this new version Hélène made the character out to be more human. She actually believed that by torturing, hum, I mean disciplining Aurore she was fulfilling her duties as a parent. In her mind she wasn't doing it to be mean.

Based on a true story of abuse. Sounds a bit harrowing.

I've already ordered the DVD for both THIS movie AND the original 1952 movie called 'La Petite Aurore l'enfant martyre" [ http://imdb.com/title/tt0045027/ ]. (Purported to be as BAD as this 2005 version is GOOD!! lol )

Purchased from Cinema Montreal: http://www.cinemaclock.com/dvd/dvd.aw/p ... urore.html

THIS version looks like a movie to watch out for! :bigups

Has anybody finished downloading this?

My link has an 'Invalid' tag on it, but upon previewing it seems to be the actual movie. In fact it seems to be the 2005 version instead of the 1952 one. :)

:( I still haven't learned how to rip subs yet... I've gotten a 'sub-ripper' program; but first try with installing it had problems and was frustrating, so I'm still working on that problem...

Here's the opensubtitles link, though they have had problems lately and aren't always accessible.

Don't know for sure if they sync up to popdrome's version, I have a 1CD one I got via WinMX way back when...

Thanks a lot for this higher quality version, David32441!

After many years, I watched this film again and it still makes me very sad and angry... ( I could kill that bitch of a stepmom!).

Anyway, it can be upgraded to FULL HD:

According to the thread title, here's the movie from 1952 in HD:

There are no subtitles for about 3 minutes (starting from around 47 min.). I had to insert a scene from a different version of the film, which was missing.
