There was another version of Escape To Witch Mountain that Disney made in the 1990s, with a slightly different story. This time, the twins grew up separate from each other and met up at an orphanage. For some reason, when they touched hands it released a glowing purple light. At the end, they traveled home not on a ship but on a beam of the same purple light. Elisabeth Moss played the twin sister in this one. It also had Brad Dourif(One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Exorcist 3, other nutjob roles) actually playing a good guy.
Don't believe it was ever released on dvd, but youtube had the film broken up into several segments. If you have the Real Player, you can download them from youtube.
