[REL] From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler (1973)

1973 version looks better than 1995 remake

I found Sally Prager's portrayal of Claudia delightful. The character is intelligent, curious, full of wonder, and caring toward her younger brother. Her independence and courage are admirable. I sympathized completely with "Mrs. Frankweiler's" attraction to this spunky young girl. Ingrid Bergman's appearance toward the end of this movie elevates the film to a new level; as ever, her acting is superb.

Maybe someone has this hidden away - looks good.

Thanks

Got it on DVD called 'The Hideaways'. The acting on the children's part really is piss-poor... PLUS a lot of the scenes are very darkly shot...

VERY surprised that Ms. Bergman actually stayed with THIS production to the end; she HAD to know what a turkey it was... lol

Still I'll rip it as soon as I get the time to clean up my HD.

I miss ripping... ;) (Been too busy dating a lovely young lady!! :heart ) I'll get back on track soon...

Wow...

I'm really forgetfull... I'll look THIS one up too when I get back, if it's still wanted. (I remember it being a rather darkly lit and poorly acted film, so it's never been on my 'favorites' list...

BUT I know tastes differ, so this may become someones all-time favorite here... :thumbsup .

dvd that was released was said to be made from a poor tape transfer by Platinum Disc Corporation. probably why it didn't sell enough to keep up production. couldn't find any other releases. :wall this has become a very rare find and thus very expensive to buy.
i too am very interested in seeing this film. a copy no matter the darkness would be very welcome. Thanks

Always nice to fill a request especially one that seems as rare as this. It would be great if billanben were still around to see this..........or is he? :think ........
I'm offering a choice on this........First of all the original exactly as I got it.......mp4 rip, poorly cropped with bad audio (excessive background hum). My thanks to the originator.

My re-encode in XviD avi format with cropping corrected & audio hopefully improved.

Neither of these are of particularly good overall quality, I'm guessing due to the limitations of the poor source material.

Enjoy!

rare finds are always welcome. thank you very much. a hum is usually some kind of picture noise. probably transfered from a vcr through bad cables. may be fixable. :think

:thumbsup thanks again loverboy :thumbsup
