From the Thomas Mann novel comes this story of a family vacationing in Italy and there finding itself engulfed by the growing Fascist party. A boy (Jan Wachtel) of roughly fifteen and a girl (Nina Schweser) of about ten have significant roles throughout.

It's not HD but seems to be a little better quality than before. I could be wrong - I don't have older versions handy to check. Let's just say this one is acceptable... and it's shared.

That's my version I tried to improve the image quality a bit, but it's stil not what I would call "good".

Finally I bought the DVD and did a new rip. The picture quality of the DVD is pretty bad, but I tried to enhance it as much as possible.

Story of a German family taking an annual vacation in Italy during the rise of Mussolini (a preview of things to come in their own home country) which features the adorable Nina Schweser (10 yo). This reissued DVD from just last year seems to have better image quality than the older release. Still no subtitles though, even in the native German. If somebody has a set - in any language - please either post it here or PM me so I can add it to the disc!
