Well, I finally watched it. I was happy with various elements of the ending, but seemed to leave a lot of loose ends. Dakota, despite my previous opinion gave a good performance, the scenery wasn't bad either. I see now why there was such a fuss about this film, drawing on numerous sexual overtures. A sweaty, scantly clothed prepubescent girl, dancing provocatively, expressing herself sexually toward others... This mixed with a carefree, and completely innocent young girl.

Such is life. Such is the sexual awakening of children, innocence lost, rising above material things.

I agree - a lot of loose ends. I would have liked some comeuppance for the rapist and the 'pimp'. Maybe the mentally impaired dad could have gone postal and horribly maimed and disfigured them.
