Enhanced to HD:

It seems, that someone made English subtitles and hardcoded them to the movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EFu0lGwWaE

Well, I ripped them and made a srt file.

This is a very old rare movie, so don't expect a superb picture quality, but it looks pretty good:

These classic Swedish movies are so delightful. Never heard of this one. Apparently there was an original Rännstensungar film made in 1944 also? Thanks for bringing this here with subs, sir ghost!

edit: It's quite nice to see that reviving old threads is encouraged here, especially when it comes with goodies like these!

Yes, there is. But it seems lost.

You're probably right. I just did my routine searches and came up with nilch. Mostly. I found this link to Swedish wikipedia that mentions (at the bottom) that a DVD of the film was released with another 1936 Swedish film.

And here's a link to a site claiming to sell a DVD of the 1944 movie. Seem legit?

Wow! That DVD is real all right. I have never purchased from Ginza but I see it is also available from CDON and DVD-Shoppen. The last provided some items that are prized parts of my collection. I have not imported any Swedish disks in awhile: international shipping gets more and more expensive, and few Scandinavian retailers ship to the U.S. I generally had better luck with amazon.de or ebay.

I will have to do some online looking myself ...

[EDIT] 2019 torrent of Tvrip of 1944 version currently dead, but I will try awhile. This at least means that it HAS been shown on television.

I'll keep an eye out for more rips of the 1944 version. The only review I've found for the 1944 version (found on imdb) states that the '44 version may not be worth it but that was just one review and I haven't looked at others yet. Curious, what are those prized parts of your collection?

A variety of Astrid Lindgren releases on dvd and blu-ray. The biggest was the 23-dvd "Älskade Filmklassiker Av Astrid Lindgren" set from 2015. Of course they only have Swedish subtitles and more and more of them have received blu-ray upgrades since then. I can't afford everything, so I look online now for streaming and other sources.

2014 interview documentary with the star of Rännstensungar 1944, with movie excerpts:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urX5O51WIqk In Swedish no subtitles.

It looks syrupy ala early Shirley Temple movies. I totally know what I am in for. :)

But hey, I still gotta watch this 1974 version, which I actually HAVE!
