I have a friend who's an IT consultant specializing in mac.........he's always pouring scorn on the Windows platform & telling me it's about time I got a 'proper' computer :) I'll see what he has to say about using eMule & if necessary, give it a try.

Hmm...last modification of aMule 2.2.3 was at the end of 2008...you sure you have the actual version?

I'm on a mac too, and sharing and downloading works fine.

Makes no difference - same rules apply:
use aMule, choose good portnumbers, port forward on yr firewall,
and connect to a reliable server.
:borgsmile ..and stay connected

:) Ty to all helping me.

info:

1. got me the version aMule 2.2.2 ( aMule 2.2.3 is source only, would need to compile :( )
2. of course having a LowId :blush
3. I understood that's necessary to use port forwarding
4. @popdrome -
a. any suggestions for good port numbers?
b. putting a file in my share folder, how would it work to offer you ( as example ) this file using ed2k - probably necessary to create an ed2k link? But how? :(
5. My default server seems to be located in France

Port numbers above 6000 or so are considered good. Many clients give you a randomly generated set of port numbers when you first install the client. Look at your preferences/options and see which ports you are currently using.

Assuming you connect to the internet using an ADSL modem, look at the modem for the make and model number.

Now go to http://www.portforward.com and click the routers link and look for your router (before you ask what router, most ADSL modems have a router inside).

The instructions are free. Watch out for links that take you to paid software.

Sharing a file is very easy.
1. Put the file, suitably named, in your incoming folder.
2. Go to the section in your client that shows your shared files.
3. Press the reload button. Your newly added file will start getting hashed.
4. When hashing is complete, the file will appear in your list of shared files. Right click, copy ed2k link to clipboard, and paste here.
5. It is also a good idea to set the file priority to high or release. That way people downloading that particular file from you will not have to wait as long as for files with lower priority.

I'm getting an error with these subs. :bigups Anyone able to figure out what's wrong? If I open it in notepad I cannot see anything wrong, but loading it in MPC gives an error. Even Subtitle Workshop refuses to open it. Says unsupported format. :wall

Jesus. Thought you Indians are the computer cracks.

1. Change file name to "Keane.srt"
2. Open file with "Editor" or "Notepad"
3. Click "Mark everything"
4. Click "Replace"
5. Put in "->" into the first field and "-->" into the second field
6. Click "replace all"

Enjoy!
