Thanks mate.
If it isn't free you know where to look in order to get it for free. :think
Shocking. You won't propose to violate software copyrights, will you? :icon_old

Of course not. I promise to restrict myself exclusively to movie copyright violations. :hand :icon_biggrin2

If you dig around with the search facility (assuming you know how to use it correctly :) ) you'll find I've posted about ConvertxtoDvd before. Handles mkv files OK although once in a while will produce a slightly oversize VIDEO_TS folder that won't fit on a DVD. I can't find a reason for this & it's easily shrunk a little with Nero recode so not really a problem.
ConvertxtoDvd is certainly not free software but is available from the usual places. Obviously exercise caution when using cracks/patches/keygens to avoid system indigestion!
My experience of v.3 is poor......although faster & with more features I found it highly unstable. I use the very last version of v.2 which is 2.2.3.258. This will transcode a 700mb avi in about 40 minutes.......mkv's take a little longer. Obviously time taken is machine-speed dependent as this software is pretty greedy. All versions have the ability to import multiple audio & subtitle streams.
Seeing as how quite a bit of interest has been shown in this software I'll have a look on my PC & hopefully release this version later.

thanks loverboy "ConvertxtoDvd is certainly not free software but is available from the usual places. Obviously exercise caution when using cracks/patches/keygens to avoid system indigestion! "

definitely good advise.
i have the latest version and am happy so far. i only mentioned this program because it is fairly simple for a newbie and handles a lot of file types. mkv is one of the best for retaining picture quality at a small size. and i don't want any one here not to be able to enjoy what is here. :)

I don't have a problem with mkv files, in fact I welcome the noticeable improvement in quality although I appreciate some members may encounter initial difficulty with what they consider to be a strange format. ConvertxtoDVD version 2.2.3.258 now released in hardware & software. :)

Thanks for the movie!

MKV files encoded with the x264 codec are becoming more and popular. You get much better quality results. Mostly it is used with HD material.

For beginners: just get the K-Lite codec pack installed and you have all you need.
