Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
Can someone seed some of the files in this thread? Especially the subtitles. I've been looking everywhere for a copy of this film with English subtitles and no luck.
Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
I do not have the videos but subtitles are here:
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... vie-151154
(English, German, Afrikaans, Russian)
I have seen the 1950 version of this many-times-filmed story in very low quality, so I too would love to get starfish's HD version:

Whoa, this looks like a fun one, and starfish's upgrade is quite nice. Hope to be able to jump on this one as well.
Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
I give up, I can not get either of the subtitle files that I have properly synced to any of the SIX versions of the movie I now have. I can get the beginning and end synced, and all during the rest of it the subtitles drift in and out of position. I had flashbacks to the trauma from when I made the same attempt 4.5 years ago, but with only one subtitle and one video then.
I will share the NOT SYNCED, but edited English subtitle files.

In addition to the starfish streaming/TV version here, I found torrent files sourced from VHS, DVD, and SD Blu-rip. I was most interested in a full DVD5, but it is stuck at 53% with no seeders. Torrent sites searched, with some success:

The Blu-ray is available for a reasonable price (in Germany and in the U.S., anyway) on eBay, but it has no subtitles.

You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
I had modest success with the torrent: https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5998703
and the subtitles: https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... vie-151154
The subtitles are about 2 seconds too early at the beginning of the movie, and about 10 seconds too early by the end, but VLC can compensate for that. (Go into Tools -> Track Synchronization and under subtitles/video give the number a positive value).
The video quality is nice-ish, and the colored subtitles make it easier to follow who is speaking. The translator's English isn't perfect, but good enough. The audio is Russian dubbed on track 1, with the original German on track 2.
As for the film itself, I loved it. Not as much as either American remake, but that's a high bar.

Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
Ha ha, I spent more time fighting with the subtitles than it would have taken for me to watch it again. It really means something when I actually GIVE UP on resyncing subtitles, because usually I can do it in my sleep.
I already suffered through one viewing where the subtitles were ALMOST synced but not quite. I hate that! I would rather watch the movie without them at all.
That torrent is one of my six versions!
Yep, it IS a good movie! Glad you enjoyed it!

Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
Thank you to whoever sourced the HDTV rip of starfish's! And thank you for the subtitle variation, Night.
I vaguely recall you asking me if I had seen either this version or one of the other versions of this film. But I cannot find this post. I suppose this may not have happened, but I'll answer anyways and say that I have not seen any film of this story, especially not this original one! But I am very interested in this. I have seen a fair amount of the other movies in the twin-swap sub-genre.

kalash, do I understand correctly that you managed to sync the subtitles that Night was working on? If so, I am curious how you managed to do this. I believe he was trying to sync the ones labeled "John.Kirby".kalash wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:37 am I had modest success with the torrent: https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5998703

Re: [REL] Das Doppelte Lottchen (1950)
pillowbaker, I (sort of) sync'd the english subtitles from opensubtitles, the one Night recommended, found here: https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... vie-151154
with the russian torrent found here: https://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5998703
I used the free media player VLC to play the film and load the subtitles. There is an option in the program to advance or delay the subtitles relative to the video track. I had to pause the video a couple of times to delay the subtitles further, but even by the end of the film the delay wasn't over 10 seconds. It was entirely watchable, though I would like to have a perfectly sync'd version to archive.

Your memory is fine, I deleted the post. I do that often now when I am making two posts in a row because I hog the threads too much as it is! Wasn't there a social media site where the posts would disappear in a short time? That's what I need for me, or a Mission Impossible self-destruct for any of my posts that do not contain file-sharing links. Like this one.pillowbaker wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 8:03 am I vaguely recall you asking me if I had seen either this version or one of the other versions of this film. But I cannot find this post. You seriously have NOT seen ANY of these movies:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Paren ... C3%A4stner
????!!!!???????
Well then maybe you have.I have seen a fair amount of the other movies in the twin-swap sub-genre.
I tried syncing BOTH subtitle files I have across all SIX videos I downloaded. I synced WITHOUT the colors, however, because I can't read that easily with the color coding in SubtitleEdit. I understand how kalash got it to work in VLC, with live adjustments. I prefer to sit back in my recliner watching it on the TV without even hitting PAUSE on the remote control, so I can take a nap if need be!
I am convinced that the latest version of SubitleEdit is buggy because I am finding more and more files where if I do any kind of translation or correction then the lines are surprisingly out of sync with the video. I need to either sync a virgin unchanged source file OR go back to using an older version of SubtitleEdit to see if there is a difference. In this case, I had time available to do spelling, grammar, and line spacing corrections BEFORE I had any downloads completed, so I did. I think some of the AI-enhanced automated corrections made unwarranted changes. What, me paranoid?
