Wow thanks SomeoneFromNorth and ghost! We've been getting some pretty nice Danish shorts recently.

Yes! This one was really good!

Out of all the International English names it could have been given, "Crybaby" was one that does NOT seem to fit the original title. It is what the parents affectionately call their daughter Piv. If they call her "Crybaby", it seems like they are just BEGGING her to be bullied, right?

Mind you, her all black dog (a Labrador, I think) is called "Blondie" so maybe this is another example of Danish humor.

But looking up "pusling" in an online Danish dictionary, translated to English, I get:
1. toddler
1.a
used as a nickname for a girlfriend, spouse, etc.
1.b
SPORT boy or girl belonging to one of the youngest age groups within certain sports LANGUAGE USE known from 1958
2.
man of short stature LANGUAGE USE rarely pejorative
3.
small supernatural being, e.g. dwarf or goblin LANGUAGE USE rarely
- edited from https://ordnet.dk/ddo/ordbog?query=pusling

And I also get these nicknames:
pookie, peanut, sweetie, dollface, little one, pumpkin, little thing, tiny
- https://tr-ex.me/translation/danish-eng ... ch=pusling

Those I can see parents calling their daughter. But really, NOT when company is over. That is just cruelly embarrassing.

That was the reason, I didn't translate "Pusling". I just couldn't find a proper translation which would fit.

Thank you, I appreciate that! If her parents had called her "Crybaby" in the subtitles, that would have been rather jarring.

(My own preference is not to translate either names or nicknames.)

Amazing that this works 99% of the time at 720p given the low res of the source material - but on occasion you can see when it doesn't - especially in people's faces - guessing between her and the pixelation/macro-blocks as she walks to camera between say 6m37s - 6m50s. But the subtitling is amazing! Very impressive Ghost! Were the Subtitles AI generated!?
