Yuki, nine years old, learns that her parents are separating. Her father is French, and her mother is Japanese.
She is going to have to follow her mother to Japan, leaving everything behind in Paris, starting with her best friend Nina. Together, Yuki and Nina devise schemes in order to get her parents back together. Running away seems like the only solution in the end - the forest will be their new destination.

It's 'Verified', HOWEVER it might have a few strikes against it a) At the moment it's incomplete.. b) It has that roll bar top center.. [On the [sorta] plus side it has hardcoded English subs!]:

Synopsis: Two little girls, one French and one Eurasian, respond to crises of separation by escaping in nature and fantasy in "Yuki & Nina", a low-key children's drama made for adults, with the faintest touch of magic-realism. A directorial collaboration between Japanese auteur Nobuhiro Suwa and French actor Hippolyte Giradot, the film's minimalist setup and naturalistic, conversational interactions mask a structural sophistication and continue Suwa's ongoing cerebral and formalist exploration of duality. Technically, the clear-cut editing and classical, crystal-clear cinematography are a sight for sore eyes.

This story of two best friends about to be separated by the divorce of one's parents who decide to run off together stars Arielle Moutel and Noë Sampy (both 9-10, depending on when filming took place).

I enjoyed this movie. The girls are cute and deliver touching performances. The story has kids as its central characters, and that age group could watch and identify with the two leads, but it's really aimed more at parents and the consequences divorce has for children. Disc contains original French audio with English subtitles and a making of documentary. Enjoy!
