@ptguardian: Absolutely right! You simply can't put high quality 6 channel AC3 or DTS together with a decent picture of 720p into 735MB. I suppose the file only has stereo 128k MP3 as sound.

Last but not least, HD means High Definition, not High Resolution. 1080p in about twice the file size of 720p is surely better, but usually, 1080p with standard run length of 90 mins start at 6GB.

However, everybody decides for himself.

High quality at a file that small in size is not possible but keep in mind 'most' people do not have high quality home theaters like we do. So for those with a decent set-up it is more than adequate.

I suggest you download one of Ganool teams 1080p rips and check it out for yourself before you make anymore presumptuous judgments. I was very surprised at how good they are for the size.

OK. I just tried Startrek 12, 1080p, 1.69B. The picture not so good. It sometimes looks even worse than a DVD rip in full screen on 1080p 24" monitor. Also, 6 channel AAC is not played by most media players like PS3 or my Samsung TV.
No option, those rips. This is what we Germans call "Selbstverarschung".
I will continue to download 1080p files in their usual size of 6-15GB with AC3 or DTS. The Samsungs can put out the audio stream on optical then. No conversion, no loss.

Yes, almost. There is no direct translation, but it should come out something like "self-bullshitting".
It means to bullshit yourself by leeching a bad quality movie from the net that you actually don't want to see, knowing there is better quality available.
This is like "why drink water, when there's wine?".
