The Curse of the Cat People. 1944. (USA. Dir. Gunther von Fritsch. Sequel to the eerie 'Cat People', this stars the six-year-old Ann Carter as a lonely sensitive girl who summons up the ghost of the first 'human cat', Simone Simon, in what seems to become a lightly disguised allegory of inter-generational 'forbidden' love, complete with 'good' child-lover and 'bad' child-hater conflict at the end. You may 'read' it as just a good creepy psychological ghost story, but it is certainly very open to interpretation. It helps if you've also seen the original 'Cat People', but see 'Curse...' anyway and judge for yourself. Available on video)

(I'm so waaay beyond stunned that this movie wasn't amoung the first films to be released here as it's been readily available for years....)

That being said...

Ann Carter was an absolute doll as the forlorn Amy Reed, yearning for her dead mother... :heart :heart :heart

I consider this movie something of a staple in any collection for those interested in FLM'ish movies... ;)

Thanks again BLT!

Seems relatively obscure to me unless you are specifically an afficionado of its genre. I mean really, if you apprached 100 random people on the street how many would know it? And probably most who said they do, would also say Nastassja Kinski starred in it.

Thanks for this, BLT! :thumbsup
